Ft Worth police officer shoots woman to death inside her home (2 Viewers)

Here's the body cam footage for those who would watch. The screen door was closed. She didn't have a chance.

So, how many weeks of paid leave is he going to get?

I saw the footage that was attached to the story I posted, but in this version, they saw fit to point out that there was a gun present. He saw an off axis movement, turned to the target, yelled "show me your hands -- put your hands up" and then shot. All of this was done with 3 SECONDS, but they are implying that he saw a gun. GTHOH

Oh yeah, there is no announcement that he was Police.

The sad thing is what we have become as Americans is the problem here.

I don't know I have always known my neighbors. Know their names and numbers. Is that wrong now?

It is truly amazing how we have so scared to converse with other people and make non Facebook friends.

I would expect a phone call from a neighbor and not a call to the police. I expect a phone call from my neighbors when anything happens because we are friends. My neighbor Kim has called me three times this week.

That is how the world should work.

Yes the shooting is crazy wrong!

But you could really make the argument that Americans are putting too much on the plate of officers.

My God call your neighbor if you are worried about them not the law!

Yeah, that was bogus. The way they had to zoom in and enhance to even (barely) be able to see the gun showed how ridiculous it is to imply that he immediately saw the gun and had a justifiable reaction.

Militarization of Police - "the process whereby civilian police increasingly draw from, and pattern themselves around, the tenets of militarism and the military model."

Withdraw the troops.

It's crazy. Every time I see something on TV having to do with a police response, it looks like the 3rd ID showed up. Officers in desert camo and MRAPs? GTHOH with that bullshirt.

Another thing that bugs me about the video is the lack of police lights. I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, but whenever there is law enforcement action in the area, my first indication of something going on is the lights from the vehicles. I live in the middle of the block, and the lights from police stops that happen on the cross street lights up my kitchen, but in this body cam shot, there are no lights. Weird.

Yeah, I know its late, but why not announce their prescence somehow quite visibly. Maybe briefly run the siren. They are almost acting like intruders, themselves.

This man and others protest <insert pic but does not work so just know it was a Kapernick picture>.

We know what happened to him. Is it because they were talking about black men, or is this situation of more concern NOW now that it women are involved? But then the white woman was killed in Minnesota and that did not get seem the move the public needle. If we as a public talk about the abuses of power related to LEO, we are terrible people. If we, the public, do not "back the blue" we are looked at like we are crazy / unstable / snowflakes .

But we support Hong Kong as they protest, which is a lot about police brutality (among other things). Yeah let's support it elsewhere but not here. Or not have those of color protest. Our government starts with We The People, thus the government is us, and we suck.

It's time to have a serious conversation as a nation around removing guns from the police, except perhaps a dedicated swat/rapid-react team. As a group, they've proven time and time again that they lack the judgement and situational awareness to carry lethal force.
