N/S Giants benched Daniel Jones [Update: Giants released Daniel Jones at his request] [Daniel Jones signs with Vikings] (1 Viewer)

No he's not bad, and you probably right they need an OLine help as well. The problem is not about him being a bad QB which but he's not a Top Tier QB especially when it matters and that where the problem lay. Regular season Dak is Phenomenal Post season Dak is Jamies winston having a bad day at the office. Poor decision making and Errant throws. When Zeke was Zeke thats when the Cowboys were their best but for his salary you should be getting regular season dak through out the playoffs which i think is what upsetting their fans.
The league doesn’t have many top tier QBs. Dak is top 12 though

Yall think these two can be good? Not knocking you or anyone for thinking this. I just personally think these 2 are 2nd or 3rd string QB's for life in the NFL. Not saying they cant come in for a game or 2 and grab a win.

I just was not impressed with Rattler at all and I do get the Oline was full of injuries. Haener I would be more comfortable with than Rattler but still lol.
Neither have been given a chance with a healthy starting rotation of O-line and WR’s.

IMO, Haener looks better as a drop back timing passer. The few times he’s come in we’re in desperation mode and he had to throw and he did well. He makes the reads and gets the ball out quick.

Rattler is still getting used to the speed of the NFL. I think he learned with a depleted O-line and the speed of an NFL defense, he can’t just dance around like he did in college and wait for a big play to open up. Once he gets comfortable with the playbook and more cohesion with the players I think he will be fine.

Will either ever be a great starting QB? No one knows at this point. But we definitely won’t know if they’re never given the chance.

That I wont disagree. Dak not a Bad QB I just dont know if he can get them over that hump. Which is honestly fine by me . I'm not trying deal with all that
Dak is a really good system QB when everything is going well. I don’t think he is the type of QB that can will a team to win or carry the team himself for more than a game or so.

I'm thinking Jones to the Rams this off-season to backup Stafford and possibly be his successor if the career rehab goes well.

Both the gm and head coach should be sacked about 30 seconds after the season ends.
on hard knocks it bugged my that the coach would slouch on the couch with his feet on the coffee table in meetings with the GM and players. Just did not seem professional to me. I know that's neither here nor there. Just an observation.

Meh…he’s a head football coach, not a middle management lackey trying to impress the CEO. It’s a grueling job; let the man relax. lol

My GF is upper management. She didn't agree with me either. Lol

I live here in Dallas and Fans frustration at an all time high, I know we give them flak but cowboys fans are loyal to a fault and for the first time in years close friends and family have been losing interest. They need something and with a history with Primetime as well, I'm not saying is probable but definitely not impossible. They want change as much if not more then before DA being fired.
I live in Dallas as well and most of the fans I interact with our bandwagon fans. As soon as Dallas season went to crap they abandoned ship for the Mavs or Stars, lol.

There are definitely some old school die-hards for sure.

I will agree that bandwagon or not, they're not happy and would love to some type of a shake up starting with Jerry Jones.

I suspect potentially picking up DJ from NYG isn't the move they're looking for.

Daniel Jones remaining 2024 salary was guaranteed.

Similar to Carr, the Giants didn't want an injury to Jones at this point to cost them more in future guarantees.

I get the reasons the Giants made the moves to bench Jones if they decided they were moving on from him.

What I find disgraceful is for Jones to ask for his release. He basically quit on his team because he was butt hurt by everything including being relegated to 4th string QB and being asked to fill in as a backup safety on the scout team during team practice. It would have shown more of him to address his teammates and let them know he would do whatever was asked of him in order to be the best teammate he could possibly be. He could have taken the higher road and made it clear to everyone that he would assist the other quarterbacks in any way possible.

Egos in today's pro sports along with the millions they make allow them to take their ball and go home with it if things don't go their way.

I don’t know Daniel Jones personally and would allow the assumption that he is a good person overall but I don't like the optics of him requesting a release. That's just my .02.

He'll certainly get another chance in the league. It may come as soon as later this year if an injury occurs to a starter of a playoff bound team. And in that case he could be better than the current backup of one of those teams and possibly earn that teams starting job. Wouldn't that be something if a situation like that played out and he becomes a starting QB again before the end of the 2024 season and goes on to lead a team to victory in the playoffs.

Crazy things happen in today's world. Don't be surprised if you see Daniel Jones in uniform again this season.

Big markets take special types. Eli was perfect for New York because he can block the noise. Some people have that ability to just do their thing and block out distractions.
Eli Manning pouted and asked for his release after he was benched in favor of Daniel Jones.

Daniel Jones has now done the same thing.

Manning doesn't deserve any credit for being tough skinned in the same situation. He wasn't.
