Gonna need to bring it against the Rams! (11 Viewers)

The Rams are not in any way similar to the Eagles up front. The Saints need to run the ball, get the young guys on the Rams cheating and go over the top. This is a game to see what we have in the offensive line,

Young and success have a correlation.

I just watched the ESPN crew talk about the Tams/Philly game. They said da key to beating Stafford is collapsing the pocket up the middle.

Meanwhile, one of the lil tweaks DC Joe Woods n da D line Coaches have made is goin with Shep n Bink, da better run stoppers, in on early downs at DT, n then bringing in BB n Chase in on passing downs.

Is it working? Too early to tell for sure. But da Browns had 20 carries for 66 yds, and were like 3-13 on 3rd downs, n with little blitzing, da DLine got 3 sacks.

So here’s what I think we’ll do esp on pass D vs da Rams:

Play more ZONE. Not only to help Tae n Koolaid more, but to force Stafford ( who ain’t goin nowhere to n da pocket) to hold da ball a lil longer n give the D line a chance to get home.

But if do we blitz, I look for DD comin right up da middle!

IKR!

But I think a big reason is that most fans believe Matt Stafford, along with Pooky n Kupp are the most serious threat to our banged up secondary, n esp Tae n rookie Koolaid at CB!

So beating them would be huge!!!
They have a good bit of talent, but we can beat them. They are a hot and cold team. Very beatable

The Saints D will have their hands full with Puca and Kupp, especially if we don’t get pressure on Stafford.
Absolutely.! The Saints’ defensive weakness in the passing game is the slot position and that’s where Kupp makes his living. They can also run the ball well with Kyren Williams. Their offense is a pretty bad matchup for our defense.

IMO, what killed the Saints, and what will continue to kill the Saints are elite young Defensive line trenches. Jalen Carter literally single-handedly wrecked our season. And its taken 8 weeks to put the pieces back together to form a semblance of a team. The RAMS are next, and are similar to the Eagles, defensive front. This is what happens when you have draft success. Had we not had to burn multiple first round picks on Davenport and Turner, maybe we'd have a young strong interior Dline. Instead, we have just Bresse to show for it. Bink and Shepard are JAGS. Chase Young could possibly turn out great. We need Tano back. The Rams roster / team are a tick better than us on paper and coaching. And the Eagles are 2 ticks better than the Saints on paper. IOW, we should be 6 point dogs at home vs the Rams. Im not meaning to sound negative. But we should all be aware that we are clearly worse than the Rams, roster-wise. So if Rizzi can pull this win out, then we should strongly consider him going forward. For the record: The Saints starting front four: Cam/Grand/Shep/Bink : ave age: 30.25

RAMS:

As of October 31, 2024, the average age of the Los Angeles Rams defensive line was 24.5 years old. The Rams' defensive line includes Jared Verse, Turner, Fiske, and Young, who all rank in the top 50 for pressures. Only the Seattle Seahawks have more players in the top 50,
we GAVE the Eagles Jalen Carter. Another great Mickey trade.

Puca is one of my favorite non-saints players. He just straight up out hustles DB’s to the ball and he has out of this world hands.

It amazes me he lasted up until the fifth round of the draft. Julian Edelman is another example as well, him I sort of get because he was a QB but he went all the way to the 7th.

The draft process puts so much emphasis on straight line speed when receivers really only use that type of speed on go routes maybe a couple times a game. So much of what a receiver does is stop start speed and the ability to just get to the right spot in coverages.

They both have elite hands and to me hands and the ability to run smart, crisp routes should trump speed any day.

Don't understand why you guys are rooting for wins
1st of all because we can still make the playoffs. 2nd no real Saints fan EVER pulls for them to lose. 3rd Winning sets the culture the more you win even if we finish 8-9 it makes us a more attractive destination for FAs 4th The difference between the 12th pick and the 8th pick is not going to win you a championship. If that player is available at #8 and your #12 you trade up and get him if he's so good

What are yall talking about? The Packers, Commanders, and Bucs are all more difficult matchups than the Rams. What planet are we living on?
Just how many teams with a winning record has Wash beat?? ONE, and they have lost 3 in a row, teams have figured Daniels out. The Bucs have won exactly 1 more game than we have and we kicked their butts late last yr. The Packers yes

Do you really think ML was sitting in his office thinking we really need to get a top 11 pick to get a WR because that's essentially what we made the trade for. ML is not a football guy he was just doing what the coaching staff was telling him to do. Plus nobody though we'd be that bad. we went 9-8 with a TON of injuries in a covid yr in 21

I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way. Look had the Rizz came in and we kept loosing then sure at that point try to loose out and get in the top 3 because to me if your picking outside of the top 3 it’s really all the same at that point so why not win as much as you can?

Loosing for loosing’s sake does more damage to your team than the return you’re going to get off a draft pick. If your bad enough to loose enough games to get a top 3 pick ok fine by all means loose as much as you can because your team is rotten to the core, if you loose guys along with loosing games so be it because you likely need to scrap the whole thing.

I don’t think our team is rotten to the core. Watching Rizz come in and suddenly guys are playing with passion again tells me our issue wasn’t tallent it was we had an empty suit running the show. I am now of the opinion we don’t need to rip the whole thing down we just need to add pieces.

I also compleatly agree right now winning games makes us a better destination for a potential incoming coaching candidate. The more wins we can rack up and the better Carr can play ends up getting us a better coach and what this season has shown me is we need to get the best coaches we can find.

It is a big “if” but if by some chance we make the playoffs (I don’t think that will happen) we would be the rare playoff team with a decent QB that is looking for a head coach. Suddenly, we would become a top destination for anyone looking to be an HC.

Winning every week should be our goal.

It’s not that they have figured Daniels out. Take a look at the Cardinals record under Kingsbury that is a pretty solid trend for any offense he is running they come out and do great things then suddenly teams get enough on tape and he can’t adjust.

Sean Payton was big on self scouting. You scout your own tape like you’re playing yourself. I remember reading somewhere he essentially devoted an entire day to it in season essentially preparing to play yourself each week. You identify your own trends because that is what your opponent is doing preparing to play you. You then use those trends in your game plan but to your own advantage. Give your opponent a look where your tape screams that your going to do something you always do then they react to it expecting something and you put the ball somewhere else entirely.

Kingsbury just does what he does. He makes no changes and when you get about 8-10 weeks into a season he is about out of new ideas.

We have never solved our problems against QBs who can run. You think Washington won’t that on catch that on game film? Teams have interns, where their sole job is to find statistics like that. Imagine what coaches will find. JD5 may break 100 yards against us on the ground alone. Dude runs like a deer. Cant think of any defender we have, that can spy him.
Plus, if Washington beats up on losing teams, then we are toast bc of our record.

Bucs, you can’t equate what we did to them last year bc this is a different year. Not sure why you think it would be the same?

This is why I really think this weeks game is essentially our season for the remainder of the year. It is the pivot point.

If we win suddenly we have some hope we are sitting at 5-7 and the woeful Giants are next up you bag that one and you’re playing the Commanders to get to .500 at 7-7. In that same stretch the Falcons have the chargers and the Vikings. You could very well find ourselves in a tight 3 team pack fighting for the NFC south title. In that situation we go all out.

If we loose we drop to 4-8. I still think the Falcons loose the next 2 but Tampa has the Panthers and the Raiders so they likely win their next two. That leaves us siting on the outside of a two team battle between the Falcons and the Bucs. I still think we beat the Giants easily.

A win gets into something like this going into that Washington game:
TB 7-6
ATL 6-7
NO 6-7
CAR 3-10

The week we have the Commanders TB has the Chargers and ATL has the Raiders on Monday night. If we get to .500 we may well have a new season with all 3 teams sitting at 7-7.

This week is everything.

In terms of most pivotal, then yes I would agree with that. In terms of degree of difficulty, then no
