Granderson gets 4 year extension 4/52 mil 35 gtd (1 Viewer)

To be fair, everyone should lie on their taxes. It's your civic duty.

Great deal for both sides and it has the added effect of making the Saints an even more attractive destination for UDFAs.
Agreed on your fist point.

This is going to turn into a steal of a deal for the Saints.

Absolutely. Use the cap space to sign an ascending talent before we have another TRex situation where a guy flashes his true potential and another team with more space gives him an offer we can't match. It's a great in-season move.

Probably my biggest concern this offseason was the d-line. I wanted us to bring in a proven vet at DE. Granderson through two games is proving me wrong. I didn't think he was a slouch but didn't see him as the guy at DE. I never expected Bresee to pop this early either. Been a pleasant surprise.

Granderson keeps playing like this and this deal is a huge bargain. It's well earned. Glad to have him long term.

Same here. I had expected Bresee to struggle a bit this season, but he's been incredibly disruptive. Add Granderson, Saunders, and Shepherd to the mix and the DL has gone from a weakness to a strength in one offseason.

Another factor to consider is that the entire locker room is witnessing HOW the Saints take care of their players. They’ve already seen that they paid Cam with guaranteed 💰

Overall, the Saints players will have another log or two 🪵 🔥 🪵 placed on their fire by seeing first hand that the Saints reward excellence and production.

I’m curious with both Granderson and Ruiz what are the cap implications for 2024! usually the first year of an extension results in cap savings!
My guess is those two deals create the fewest problems for us in 2024, with their contracts practically guaranteed to be good candidates for restructuring if needed. The ones I don’t like restructuring are for older players on the tail end of their contracts, fewer years to spread the hit while committing to a player who could fall of a cliff that season.

I believe Payton Turner injury made the Saints pick Carl over him long term. Right decision.

Getting injured 7 snaps into the season pretty much closed the book on him getting a lucrative deal here.
That and what they saw from Foskey in preseason, Loomis probably couldn’t sleep until this deal got done.
