Hot Takes Welcome (Post Falcons Win) (4 Viewers)

Heres my HOT TAKES: Watching the Atl after loss press conference. Rahim said that they had to take away MVS by putting their best corner on him before the first half ended. And it worked. We can now only Imagine what having a best corner feels like. A reporter asked Cousins about the Saints D, if they just played better this second time around. His answer, and he thought about it, says "no they played great defense vs us the first game and they played great defense again today" Sad to see our great D go. Let Rizzi take over then re-hire DA. DA wouldn't bauk, he knows hes not a HC. I'm sure the players wouldn't mind either. The only people that would are the group of fake fans that patrol YT and twitter.

I want to add more more thing:
The Falcons have a winning coaching staff right now. I like what Cousins said that RM preached, and that is to keep playing even when you think the game could be over. (ie the 32TM Int) They kept playing and the fell short. I bring this up, because thats exactly what we heard Rizzi preach. And that exactly what the Saints did, they didnt quit and CY got that monster sack pushing them well beyond FG range. This gives me confidence that we're more dialed in coaching-wise.

Their best corner would be our #4. Oh, wow, he was able to stop a guy who already had two TDs on them and was sitting on his couch two weeks ago. Good for them.

The Saints still have an OC problem.

First half points: 154
Second half points: 73

The Saints have only managed to score in the double digits (10 or more points) in the second half once this season, and that was in the first game before anyone in the NFL had tape on Kubiak’s playcalling tendencies.

Kubiak appears to be able to create a decent gameplan going into a game, but has completely failed to demonstrate any ability to adjust once the opponents have made their adjustments to his plan.

I brought that up because good coaches make half time adjustments that actually show up on film. How many times did we se Rattler look good in the first half only to be embarrassed the second half. This also proves that Carr is a legit QB1.

My quick takes from Section 521:
- Our patchwork defensive secondary seemed to be all over the wide receivers, but Cousins seemed to sneak the ball in and the WR's for Atlanta made some great, tough catches. Game of inches.
- I knew Bijan is fast and shifty, but I didn't realize how well he could shake off tackles (insert - "our tacking sucks" here). Also, he came close to breaking a long run several times if not for one saving tackle. Until he did.
- Saints recieivers - The list of no-names stepped up just enough to Atlanta's D honest and not totally key on Kamara and HIll. Big props to MVS. He needed this type of game just as much as we need him to. Kevin Austin, Jr. gets honorable mention. Going into the game I really thought Tipton would have a nice day, but I don't know if he was even targeted.
- Cam Jordan - that was a vintage Jordan sack. He bowled over the lineman right into Cousins. I also noticed he made a couple of tackles on Bijan, but well upfield. On replay it was because he came from the opposite side of the line. He's not the player he was, but he had a decent day and you know you'll always get his full effort.
- We're still giving up yards on the ground. Nice effort on the goal line stance, but we could keep them out on the fourth try from inside the one.
- Yeah, Koo missed two field goals. One we blocked so. If the Falcons were a yard closer, that last one probably grazes the upright and goes in. Again, game of inches.
- The back judge was flag-happy. Rarely do you see two defensive holding calls on run plays (one against each team). Officiating wasn't terrible. The hold on Moreaux that took away Taysom's TD hurt. Only saw the replay once and it seemed picky, but I could be wrong.

- This was a terrific win. The defense looked better and though they moved the ball, they held them to only two TDs.

We were up 17-3 going into the half, so we probably wanted to continue on. But I agree we have to get that fixed, you cant put that much pressure on the D game after game.

Im liking Kevin Austin, Jr, hes got the size 6'2 200 lbs to be a durable WR.

This was a tough one, Stram built the offense that led to the 7-9 and 8-8 seasons, Nolan was not a good on the field coach, my dad said back then (and I agree) that if they would have stayed with Stram they would have made the playoffs in 78 and/or 79
I was watching games as an elementary school kid during the Nolan days and my pops also said that Stramm built that roster and then Nolan messed it up.

What made him especially mad is that Nolan was a former NFL DC and HC, before joining the Saints as LB coach, but his defenses as HC in NO were all-time bad. Man, my dad really disliked Nolan and so much so he didn’t like his son either.

100% win percentage as a head coach. 100% win percentage in conference, division, vs rival, and at home. Coming in cold, with an injury depleted team.

Those some pretty good stats. See what he can do vs the mighty mighty Browns.
