We are basically extending our commitment to him, but at least another two years. 2025 and 2026. If we cut bait with him next year, the cap hit will be over 70 million. Just seems like we’re still kicking the can.

I applaud the regime for wanting to continue to win and maybe this was coach Kellen Moore‘s decision. If so, then I’m willing to give it a chance. But if you asked me personally, I would have rather just reset this year and take my chances with Rattler or the rookie.

I think for a first time head coach, Moore is playing the cards he was dealt. Probably doesn't want to do anything too drastic right out of the gate and its not like cutting Carr is a clear cut, no brainer move. It would just make the whole situation more complicated. We all want to have patience with this new staff and I think a part of that is letting them settle in, really understand and know what they are working with and who they can work with, and then get aggressive at doing what they want to do. I don't think there's a clear future franchise QB in this draft. We have 3 qbs on the roster. Top FAs out there are Rodgers and Cousins... Its just not worth it to force Carr out imo.

No we aren’t. We’ll be cap compliant next year or close to it. So we can designate Carr as June 1 and pay $35 over two years. But maybe he’ll be good this year!? Let’s just hope for that

How many OC and coaching changes has he had to contend with both here and at the Raiders? The lack of continuity would degrade anyone’s performance.

I voted for #2, with the search for the franchise QB being Rattler or a draft pick this year. So I think we will have our future QB on the roster. And possibly they take over late this season or next. I believe Carr is here just for this season.

People needs to understand he isn't guaranteed the staring job . I have seen teams who paid lots of money for quarterback but the coach chose whoever is best for the team.

I think it was a terrible move, personally. The idea of this new regime starting by doubling down on the same failed approach that we've taken leading up to this point just doesn't make sense. And all for what? Us maybe having a chance at being slightly better than the Tampa Bay Bucs? Is that really the bar now? They've done a nice job at winning some games in a poor division, but they're certainly not building anything sustainable that'll lead to championship runs. I think that's what a lot of fans are disappointed by, the fact that it's such a short sighted move when we really had a chance to truly reset and start building a championship roster.
We're not going to be better than the Bucs. If we win the division it'll be because we played the easiest schedule in the NFL and theirs is more difficult with a 1st place schedule.

Can’t find the tweet from Underhill. But it’s true that Carr was ready to part ways and we kept him. I don’t think we should have. We will just be like the cowboys. Too good to tank and too terrible to make playoffs. Loomis needs to go or be upgraded to VP.

You're looking at the numbers as of now when we have only 44 players under contract for 2026 and before additional restructures that it will take to sign free agents that they are supposedly going to sign, plus those new players contracts. That cap space will be gone shortly.

You had no other option if you wanted to remain competitive this season. I cannot wait for the whole Carr experiment to be over. He's a .500 QB under most circumstances and mostly a career loser. The contract itself is whatever, the restructures put the Saints in this mess. They might win 7 games this year, maybe 10 if everything bounces your way, including luck with injuries and being in the leagues worst division.

That's what I'm saying. I think our ceiling is SLIGHTLY better than the Bucs, if everything goes right. The idea of pushing all of your chips in the middle again just to MAYBE meet that ceiling is absolutely wild.
