I am pretty indifferent. I do not like Carr really at all, but he is far better than anyone else on the roster. If it's true that we can keep him for another year then cut him I am OK with it. I do not want him around to 2-3 years though.

I am more or less ready to cut bait, but recognize that we have a short term need for a starter.

I don’t understand why people don’t see the reasoning here. If we cut Carr, the only way to get under the cap was to restructure EVERYONE else. There would be no room for free agents and you’d be locked into all the aging veterans.

This was a given. He’ll be our QB and should be this year. He can be cut next year and we can take the cap hit with less difficulty.

Now we can build a team with some mid level free agents, can still draft a QB if we want Ann’s be in a better spot for 2026.

Everyone wants to just suck next year for some mythical rookie QB. I don’t want to watch a 2-15 team
I totally agree, and I also don't understand which qb in this draft that anyone truly believes is a future star? I don't want any qb in this draft versus other needed positions.

We are basically extending our commitment to him, but at least another two years. 2025 and 2026. If we cut bait with him next year, the cap hit will be over 70 million. Just seems like we’re still kicking the can.

I applaud the regime for wanting to continue to win and maybe this was coach Kellen Moore‘s decision. If so, then I’m willing to give it a chance. But if you asked me personally, I would have rather just reset this year and take my chances with Rattler or the rookie.
No they aren’t extending the commitment beyond 2025. He can be released next year, take the full dead money hit, and still save $9.5M against the cap.

Just like DA, I don't watch DC press conferences either. Can't stand either one of them. Now DC gets to ruin another season for me. I just hope Rattler or a draft pick takes his job and ends the whole era
I'm hoping this also. Put DC4 on the bench as a backup QB (an expensive backup, but clipboard boy nonetheless). I'd probably feel different as a player, but as a fan, the message he sent me is that HIS salary supercedes the drive for a championship. This may explain why he has NEVER won a playoff game, let alone a championship. Fair or not, that's how I see it, and I'm entitled to that perception. I was a fan long before he got here, and I'll be a fan long after he's gone.

I was on the fence with Carr....he ain't the problem, but he ain't the solution either. The way this went down gave me a bad taste. He could've bought a LOT of goodwill by taking a "token" pay reduction in the attempt to make the team around him better. Would've been great PR....sending the message he was here to do whatever it takes to make the team better and win a 'ship. Instead, the message he sent was "I got mine....GIMME!"

I'm a firm believer that if you chase championships, money follows; if you chase money, you will NEVER win a championship. I was lukewarm on DC4....didn't like him, but didn't dislike him either....I was waiting for something to sway me. I have been swayed.... I'll suck it up for as long as CKM says I need to, but I'm looking squarely at the coaching staff and saying "get to work making that happen!"

I feel like the Albert Breer tweet just now sums up how i feel. We are going all in on a weak free agent market... instead of getting right sooner. We are going to over pay for a sub par free agency period.

I would have liked to cut Carr this year and move forward to the future, but I don't think restructuring him is "going all in" in free agency. The move doesn't even have us all the way under the cap. So, unless they also restructure everyone else to create a huge amount of cap space, I don't think it's going all in.

Frankly, it's the middle approach of keeping Carr until it's cheaper to cut him and you can spread the cap hit out instead of just taking it all at one time. I'd prefer seeing what Rattler has or taking a shot at a QB in this draft while cutting Carr so you can make more moves next year, but I don't think this is close to all in unless they make a lot of other moves to restructure aging vets.

Can’t find the tweet from Underhill. But it’s true that Carr was ready to part ways and we kept him. I don’t think we should have. We will just be like the cowboys. Too good to tank and too terrible to make playoffs. Loomis needs to go or be upgraded to VP.

The Cowboys have been in the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years. And had 12 wins 3 of the last 4 years.

Feel like we're mortgaging any chance of being a post-season challenger next year or two in hopes to not pooping the bed this year. But at the same time, chances are really good we're not going to get someone as a future franchise QB until the 2026 draft at the earliest. Then that QB has to spend a couple of years growing into the NFL and not just meeting the demands to grow and be successful, but excelling at those demands.

So if you're looking 4 years out, it makes sense in hindsight as a move to keep fans entertained with a team that can compete with anyone, even if it falls short of beating the big dogs all while the new rookie head coach grows and simultaneously searches for his guy.

I'm not a contract numbers guy so I'll let others discuss that. I've never been in the camp that Carr was ever the problem, honestly. The guy throws at a 3-1 TD/INT ratio. I'm more concerned about our thin, thin WR room and aging defense, as well as our suspect OLine. You're not gonna be very successful when the defenders reach the QB at the same time that the ball does.

That's what I'm saying. I think our ceiling is SLIGHTLY better than the Bucs, if everything goes right. The idea of pushing all of your chips in the middle again just to MAYBE meet that ceiling is absolutely wild.

How is this pushing all your chips in the middle? They tried to get him to take a pay cut or a better restructure and he wouldn't. So they did the simple restructure. I wanted to cut Carr, but this is not going all in unless they also restructure a bunch of other guys to create huge cap space to use in free agency this year.

It slows the process of the rebuild down a little bit, but in the end they just have to draft better and not waste draft picks trading up. You can do that whether Carr is on your roster or not. And, there is a good chance Carr ends up getting hurt again this year so Rattler might still get significant snaps to show if he has it or not.

I'm not happy with the move, but I think there are a lot of overreaction going on here. This was always what was going to happen this year going back to when Carr signed the contract in the first place. And we knew this during the Combine. This is just an old wound being opened again.

There was glimmer of hope that maybe he would take a pay cut or that Moore disliked Carr so much he would be willing to risk his coaching career on Rattler, another vet, or a rookie, but that too was highly unlikely to happen. Fans say they will be patient with Moore, but if he cut Carr and Rattler turned out not to be it which resulted in a 5 win season, or worse, then the fans would turn on him quickly. So, I get why a first time HC would want a mid-level veteran starter even if it meant a bit less cap space in future years. Especially when it would give him a little cap space this year to fill some glaring holes for the long term.

When healthy and low injuries with the oline and receivers, he's above average. Lokk at the first 2 games last season before the injuries started. Problem is this team stays hurt. He gives us the best chance to win while searching for a franchise QB. Hopefully sooner than later to be able to sit and learn. Who knows Rattler could be the one with a healthy offense.

He wanted to test the FA market. Saints should have let him. Beyond football, he's never been a good fit for this team/city. That being said, there's bigger fish to fry in 2025.
