how many key/critial kicks will Grupe miss before it costs us (5 Viewers)

Not sure why everyone loves deflecting and pretending we don’t have a kicker problem. Every time he’s been put in a clutch situation, he’s come up empty. Many here will try to blame shift and make excuses for him, but you can’t undo the past and he’s showing serious signs that he can’t be trusted in big moments.

Yah he made 5 kicks yesterday but each one of them was iffy. I was expecting him to miss the last one because that’s what he’s shown us he’ll do in that spot.

It is what it is, and to all the white knights in this thread, the OP is not wrong for talking about it.
If you want to take the time to focus on Grupe, I guess thats anyone's right.

I just don't spend a lot of time thinking about how different our disaster of an organization would be with our without a better kicker. It's beyond irrelevant. You'll be happy he missed those kicks when it's time to figure out our draft position.

Respectfully, its’s irrelevant how iffy the kicks were. If not for those iffy kicks, we would’ve been blown out 24-0.

It’s not irrelevant. Y’all want the team to just blow it up but don’t want to pay attention to the actual problems this team has. His kicks were erratic compared to where they were preseason and prior to the Green Bay whiff. Since then we’ve had a problem. The fact that he went 5/5 prior to his choke job miss doesn’t change anything because there’s clearly something wrong with his trajectory and mechanics.

Edit: I get it. Y’all want all 100 threads on the first page to be about Allen Carr and Carmichael.

And that's fair to point out ....

But I'm curious if Carr was to go 22 for 22 in a game heading into his final drive.....with 4 TD passes........but the game is somehow still tied with 1:45 left.......completes 3 more passes to go 25 for 25 in an effort to get them in FG range.......only to throw an interception on his final pass, allowing the other team to get a game-winning FG instead..... and having a final stat line of 25/26 with 4 TD passes and 1 interception......would the forum be cool with just glossing over that ?

Do you truly think the majority of the forum would be like "come on guys, he played a brilliant game outside of that one pass" ?
It would look just as unjustified and griping for the board complain to about Carr throwing 1 INT if he was responsible for all or most of the team’s points with a 3-4 TD game.

“Missing a critical kick” doesn’t apply here when Grupe made clutch kick after clutch kick when the offense failed every RZ attempt through 3.75 quarters. The 5 FGs he made were more critical than the 6th attempt.

Grupe was the only reason the game stayed a one possession deficit all game until the final minutes.

If a missed 6th FG attempt is a critical kick, then every redzone attempt by the offense is a critical redzone attempt and the base offensive personnel is failing all of them.

Not necessary to 🤡 a post because we disagree.

I know he hit 5, but if Bama could get an 0.o1% touchdown then we had a chance as much as dumb and dumber if grupe hit his last kick. Staying down 9 instead of 6 was finito. Not that he is bad but he is not a game winner or critical kick maker so far this year. Not enough of a salary cap save if that is the only we can score. Yes, I had given up but then I realized we might have recovered an onside and hit a miracle to give the Dirty birds another legendary flop. Gotta hit that last kick Grupe
I think he struggles with the late game pressure kicks. Remember Green Bay?

Of all the things to complain about we’re talking about the kicker!? The offense couldn’t score a friggin touchdown in the redzone. Meanwhile the kicker is kicking his lil a$$ off trying to keep us in the game.

Out of all our problems, a kicker not being able to do his ONE job would be the least of them. Let that sink in while we're putting bags over our heads.

Not paper ones. Those you can still breathe through.

ETA: Oh, by the way, the quarterback's job is to throw touchdowns. But I'll eat my Atlanta 3-28 hat when Carr does that 5 out of 6 times in one game.
