How many years did keeping Allen and signing Carr set back the team? (1 Viewer)

Have to disagree. NFL rosters turn over very quickly. It's easier said than done, but finding a good HC,GM
and a Qb coupled with good drafting will turn a teams fortune soon.

I have now lost faith in Loomis. I believe he has a place on the financial side, but he should not have any
personnel authority. His propensity for constantly trading up in the draft and not hitting has cost us
dearly, and we are seeing that on the field now.

YES...…the front office does! The ONLY mistake they have made is keeping with the "status quo" Sticking with what Payton/Brees built. DA and PC are not the answer. We all know that. The Payton/Brees thing is old, stale and outdated. Yes....they have some players that should not have been extended or shown the door by now. Its funny how 2 maybe 3 players only make a team old. Take those players away...its one of the younger rosters.
Give me a list of players on the roster who are young and you think could one day be top 5-10 at their position?

I'll try:

Olave - With his attitude I doubt it though.
Shaheed - Doubtful but maybe??
Breese - Looks like he has good potential.
Werner - Possibly
Taylor/Adebo - Maybe?

That's not a super young or talented and deep roster. And as I said in my other thread, it doesn't matter because the team doesn't have a QB. Until that gets situated, nothing else matters.

No one knows what will happen in the 10 remaining games, so yes, there's definitely a chance the Saints turn it around.

Saints need to be in the one-game-at-a-time mindset and focus solely on beating their next opponent (@Colts).
I have a pretty good guess what will happen. There's two ways this will go and if you look at my post history, it hasn't changed in my predictions since before the season start.

Best case scenario - Pete is fired and the offense goes from bottom 5 to mid 20s. They do this, the team will eek out a few wins against bad teams and get close to .500 but won't make the playoffs.

More realistic scenario - Players lose all faith in Allen and the defense gets sick of the offense and falls off and this team limps to 5-6 wins and Allen is canned.

I don't think there's any scenario where Allen is fired mid-season because there's no viable replacement (maybe Marrone) and Loomis won't do that. Really no point in doing that anyway. Let him implode and purge them all.

The best-case scenario is the Saints start winning and make a playoff run.

That's the absolute worst-case scenario imo. It will give Allen another year and fool them into thinking they're not absolutely terrible. They'll get destroyed. This team has zero chance even playing at their absolute peak of winning a playoff game. Zero. What's the point?

Add Pete to this as well. Both him and Allen are just totally lost and can't buy a clue.

If they fire Allen, there’s a chance. 60 games in the NFL and you know what you have. You are what you are. You’ve earned what you are. And he is the 4th worst coach in the Super Bowl era at 60 games.

Otherwise, what you’ve seen from this team is how it’s going to be. No changes. No spark. No accountability. Just the players trying to overcome the pathetic HC on the sideline.

Agreed.....I crack up at folks talking about "tearing it down", etc.....like the entire core of the roster will be gone also.....they won't.....

Also, anyone who has paid any attention that last 20 years or so would know that turnarounds for teams in 1 year are not really that unusual.....I give you the Saints 2005 team morphing into the Saints 2006 team.....

This is the same front office that lit on fire 5 first round picks, a 2nd and a third for Davenport, Turner, Olave and Penning and you want us to trust their plan? Is it to pretend like we aren't tanking but try and still suck?

Does anyone still think there's any chance at all that Allen turns this around? I'd say it's less than 5 percent.

But now you're also stuck with Carr because they arrogantly thought a mid level QB would put them over the top.

Not to mention bad contracts to Davis, Jordan, Ruiz, Johnson and kicking the cap down the road.

I'd say if they do the right thing and fire everyone and start completely over, it's going to take at least two years to just take the cap hits of getting off guys like Jordan, Davis, Ram, etc.

Should have done thst this of season. Dump every high priced vet. Trade whonyou can and start your tits cultural rebuild.
We are set back another probably 5 years although you can reload quickly in the NFL. Bad experiment.

With 10 games remaining, I want to see the Saints start playing good football, get on a roll and make a playoff run. Changes can be made in the offseason.

With the input from Sean Payton...when in fact, he made the calls on those players. The Saints have drafted pretty darn good in recent years. But see....now yall want to force the narrative that this is all on the FO and ownership when before....there was nothing wrong with the FO and it was so nice to have a non-meddlesome owner. Now, the FO particularly Micky Loomis needs to be fired along with DA and PC and now we have an owner that won't do anything and she needs too. Please make it make sense.

Literally none. It isn’t Carr setting this team back. It’s CARMICHAEL AND DENNIS ALLEN.

Loomis set this team back by signing those 🤡

Carr is 7th in yards, 18th in touchdowns, 19th QBR, 22nd in rating

We pay him like a mid level QB and he’s performing like any mid level QB would under Carmichael

The offense looking capable for the first time this season after the Curry halftime talk. Make him OC, and see what happens. The NFC South is crap. If the offense improves just 25%, we could win the division. Yea, easier said than done. The Saints defense is too good to tank. We might as well just try to win.

Prove that the Saints have drafted darn good please. They have drafted a couple solid starters but nobody who is game changing at all.
