How many years did keeping Allen and signing Carr set back the team? (1 Viewer)

With the input from Sean Payton...when in fact, he made the calls on those players. The Saints have drafted pretty darn good in recent years. But see....now yall want to force the narrative that this is all on the FO and ownership when before....there was nothing wrong with the FO and it was so nice to have a non-meddlesome owner. Now, the FO particularly Micky Loomis needs to be fired along with DA and PC and now we have an owner that won't do anything and she needs too. Please make it make sense.
Thought in a business, the buck stops with the owner. If Payton keeps picking duds, it’s up to ML to step in. If ML keeps letting Payton screw up then it escalates higher up too GB. Don’t want to hear the ML is really a bean counter and cap wizard, that stuff is only part of his oversight. A bean counter hemorrhaging wasted cap space and draft picks on duds isn’t doing his job. The eagles draft pick fiasco was directed his job.

Yes, they may have given him full control, but they were in the position to take it away when it stopping working in the teams favor.

Zero years. We are here are in the here and now. Took 40 years to win a super bowl. This aint nothin.

It only took four years from Katrina to XLIV.
It’s not the old days where it took five plus years just to be competitive.

The saints were given a beautiful opportunity to reset and hire fresh blood to lead the team. They would have been given a year or two grace while they cycled through bad contracts and figured out a QB. We’d be in a great spot right now, loaded with picks and a fresh cap.

But nooooooo…. The idiots don’t hire ANYONE, and instead let the underlings ruin the offense, draft a bust in the first round and sign even more bad contracts and old players.

They deserve what they get, but we the fans don’t. It’s sad.

They still have a chance. The Falcons, Bucs, and Panthers don’t have a long term plan either.

Agreed, Loomis is still a valuable asset, but he needs to be in finance/admin like you said. He's had the final
say on all the trading up since the Haslett days. It's a philosophy that hasn't worked most of the time.
I know nothing about what goes on on the building but from the outside looking in looks like drafts who his coaches want and who knows if he has ever over-ruled anything.

We are one of 20 or more teams in the same boat
Just do not have a good enough quarterback to be really competitive

The Panthers have one, but they chose the wrong QB and coach like us.

It’s going to take about 3 seasons. I think there’s a strong chance they keep DA around for one more season and with a bunch of untradable contracts they’ll compete well enough to not get a top QB in the draft. The only hack would be to stumble backwards into drafting a non-top 3 QB who ends up being amazing. That could shave a year off and set them up to clear those vets off the roster and inject the roster with young cheap talent. The obvious problem is that the saints aren’t great at drafting and if carr gets another season he’ll talk Mickey into burning through future picks to go all in on the 2024 draft and it won’t be for a QB. Honestly it’s just miserable to think about. Our off-season moves are more predictable than our offense. As someone previously mentioned this team refuses to rebuild so all of this would need to happen while also extending more vets with ghost year contracts.

3-5. I say minimum three because I think DA and Carr will be here next year (DA’s third year). And I go up to five because I believe we’ll feel Carr’s contract for a year or two after he’s gone.

Literally none. It isn’t Carr setting this team back. It’s CARMICHAEL AND DENNIS ALLEN.

Loomis set this team back by signing those 🤡

Carr is 7th in yards, 18th in touchdowns, 19th QBR, 22nd in rating

We pay him like a mid level QB and he’s performing like any mid level QB would under Carmichael
I agree with the DA part , while PC's play calling may not be the best it's not the biggest problem. Stats don't tell DC's story. I will guarantee that PC is doing a better job than Marrone. This team needs an offensive HC with backbone and knowledge , not Gruden but a Gruden type . Ben Johnson would not only fix this team but fix DC as well just like he did with Goff
