How would you feel about drones flying around, checking things out?

They can't fly a police helicopter through your kitchen window.

There's also a large fuel cost with helicopters that prevents them from being all over the place all the time. These things are only getting smaller and cheaper.

I thought you fellas on the left would be with me on this one. Personal privacy and all that. Disgust with fascists cops and all.

Well, when discussion turns to flying these things through kitchen windows, I'll probably be right there with you on thinking that this is a bad idea.

However, if the presumed function is to do monitoring or tracking duties normally done with things like police helicopters, I don't see the problem. Especially if it's "smaller and cheaper".

I don't think most people on "the left" has much of a problem with that. Sorry to dispel your preconceptions. :hihi:

Please don't dispel anymore. I haven't the energy for a large-scale reorganization of my intricate mongoosian files.

Lost hikers, flood victims, earthquake victims, hurricane victims - unmanned drones able to cover large amounts of ground looking for survivors, able to pinpoint where rescuers need to go first. Just one non-military, non-police use for them.

I dont know what the deal is but within the last month or two(day and night), on several occasions i hear military aircraft flying at super high speeds but never see them. This happens mostly ay night, with no lights in the sky in sight...dunno. Just thought i mention that. I live in Ponchatoula, LA. When i go outside and smoke i always look up in the sky. The amount of big green meteors lately has been amazing. Seem like the size of school buses....and green. And there is a full moon eclipse coming up soon. Dont have the exact date and time tho. Cant check now.

Mount them with 50 cal chain guns and use them to kill anyone sneaking across the border and I'm cool, but the minute they're flying around a US city giving speeding tickets I'm rethinking my opposition to privately held ground to air missiles.

Is this serious?

As long as any safety concerns are addressed and they aren't using it for something crazy like looking inside windows or whatnot, I'm having a tough time getting too bent out of shape about it.

As noted, there are already things like police helicopters and traffic cams so I can't see how some line has been crossed just because the aircraft is pilotless.

Just to speak about looking in windows or through walls. L.E. has a device that can look through walls to see if there are grow rooms inside of building. supreme court made a ruling on this device a few years ago, because the device works so well you can tell what is going on inside with decent detail. the device when used in any aspect other than the search for a grow shop requires a search warrant.

This device mounts on a vehicle like flir and you just drive down the road.

What happened to self reliance? My tax dollars don't need to go to search and rescue drones for idiots to get lost in the woods.

Is this serious?

In a kind of not so serious way, yes.

I would love to use them to seal our freaking borders and I do not want them used as million dollar boondoggles for speeding tickets, but I'm not actually going to advocate individual ownership of SAMs, but I am buying what Mongoose is selling.
