Those guys love pointing one finger in the air. I think might both be part of some secret beef cult where the secret sign is a finger pointed up in the air.

"In the study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers looked at health data from 216,695 people from the Nurses’ Health Study, Nurses’ Health Study II, and Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS) in the US.

People were asked to complete questionnaires about their diet every two to four years, for up to 36 years. During this time, more than 22,000 of them developed type 2 diabetes."

I know I can remember what I ate 4 years ago.

The true culprit of diabetes has been found. At least according to this study.

I had switched to eating mostly red meat and eggs 2 years ago and saw numerous health benefits, including lower A1C, lower triglycerides, cessation of GERD and GI issues and 60lbs of weight loss. But I guess it was all for nothing.
Color me skeptical. They need to have a more ethnically appropriate participant base from which to cull findings in order to be more accurate. Whites are statistically one of the lowest percentage ethnic groups diagnosed with diabetes type 2. I don't think it's going to reflect the actual real life numbers so I take it with a grain of salt. Just my 2 cents FWIW. By the way, I am Filipino and everyone in my family has diabetes type 2, except for my mom.

Per the article:

"Participants, most of whom were White, were age 46 on average at the beginning of the NHS, 36 when NHS II began, and 53 when the HPFS was initiated. All were followed up with through no later than 2017."

According to the diabetes.org site:

"The rates of diagnosed diabetes in adults by race/ethnic background are:

14.5% of American Indians/Alaskan Natives
12.1% of non-Hispanic blacks
11.8% of Hispanics
9.5% of Asian Americans
7.4% of non-Hispanic whites"

The last article I skimmed about this mentioned the group's other dietary intakes weren't necessarily taken into account either. Like you may have changed your diet like you mentioned, but what else are you eating aside from that? Not everyone who is eating red meat for every meal is concerned about what else they're taking in.

For the last two years my diet has consisted of primarily eggs, ground beef, ribeye steak, and every so often I have some wild caught salmon. I try to buy my beef from a local butcher but he often runs out so I do have to frequent the regular grocery store for my meat. As for my treats to myself I will have oatmeal every other week or so, and every time I do it gives me the worst gas and bloating, but I still love the taste. I also sometimes will make my father's baked beans recipe every couple months or so, and I pay for it when I eat that too.

I don't count any macros or calories, I just eat twice a day until I feel full. But if I had to guess it's between 2000-2500 a day depending on the size of steak I eat.

People can scream anecdotal all they want. But I am 50 years old and have not been in this good of health in 20 years.
