I don't think football hands are on the edge of their seats waiting to hear what a slightly above average quarterback on one of the worst-performing teams in the NFL has to say about the Super Bowl.

As some have mentioned above, it could be more than just the fans not being welcoming. The FO may have asked him to take a pay cut and he could be on the trade block for all we know.Agreed. I think it’s human nature to avoid people and places that clearly don’t want you around.
Having said that, a starting QB is one of the leaders of the team and fairly or unfairly, he needs to rise above the arseholiness of some of the fanbase and show up, I suppose.
I don’t know why he’s not in the city and frankly, I don’t care. I am not knocking those who do care; however, as I can see both sides.
Winston is being paid to be there. Just saying…..I don't know. New Orleans is different than other cities. It's differences are WHY the Super Bowl comes so often. What the team means to the city is different than what some other teams mean to theirs.
Obviously, there is no requirement for him to do the things many others have done. But he IS the QB. The supposed face of the Saints franchise. And he's nowhere to be found during footballs biggest week in the city he plays for. It's a weird look. Maybe he's just not a good fit culturally and to many Saints fans that is sometimes as important as how they play. Jameis being prime example of that. Is it fair? Maybe not. But lots of things aren't fair.
He's played for exactly two teams in his entire career. How is he a journeyman?Carr’s a journeyman.
I agree but a couple of appearances for this week would not have stolen the time from his family.
Derek Carr was conspicuously absent throughout New Orleans' Super Bowl week
Derek Carr was absent in Super Bowl week. Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener promoted New Orleans just like Drew Brees and Jameis Winston, but QB1 wasn’t to be found:saintswire.usatoday.com
Didn’t Drew move his main residence back to California late in his career? I seem to vaguely recall him just keeping a small condo as his in-season crash pad in those final years.
But this isn't going to change anyone mind about him. No matter what, even if he show up, someone going to say something about what he said, how he look, or whatever it is. I don't see every players attending these events. It never once cross my mind who attended or didn't. It isn't a big deal to me.I don't hate Carr at all. I've wanted him to succeed here. Him not being here during SB week probably isn't a big deal to the team and won't matter a bit when OTAs start. But... It would have done nothing but good for the current QB of the host city's team to make appearances with his teammates

That was my point. When you first go into a new city, with kids, are you supposed to know which restaurants will have foods they will eat? I can understand why they ate there. Unless his kids weren't with him

I don’t believe that’s true at all. He probably feel unwelcomed. And would get booed and embarrassed by drunk locals. Fans are such a weird bunch in Nola. They rip you to pieces and when he gets the messege and takes his toys and goes home. Then he takes 3x trash talk from the fans, for going home. The dude can’t win at all. LolOver the last few days, I have seen a few posts on social media criticizing Carr for not being in the city because the Super Bowl is happening. People feel Carr has missed an opportunity to fully grasp the New Orleans culture by not participating in Super Bowl-related events similar to how Jameis, AK, Drew, and Colston have. I'm not bothered by what this guy does in his spare time; I only focus on whether he can win Sunday football games when he puts that Saints uniform on. I'm not just zeroing in on Carr; that's for everyone.
He's just not into the city like that, and that's okay in my book. That concludes my Ted Talk.
