I want no part of Aaron Glenn as a HC (36 Viewers)

Didn't say it did excuse it, but it's still only one half of football compared to his career as a DC. There are many other valid reasons to think Glenn isn't the right guy, but one sheetty half of defense isn't close to the biggest reason. You certainly take it into consideration, but it's not good enough on it's own.
Okay, how about 12 men on the field on a critical 4th and 2? Is that reason enough?

It's only one game.. but man it's a bad one and it's the most recent one.. difficult to sell a fan base on him with this as the lasting impression heading in..

He’s getting out coached. Plain as day. Gotta wonder if skins HC, Kingsbury and Daniels lived in the film room this week cause they’re not just outplaying the defense. The Skins are forcing mismatches left and right

Have you looked at Glenn's career as a DC? Because you should.

I have and it's mediocre. That's the reason to question Glenn as the next HC, not one game of sheetty defense.

Although I will say that Glenn said that he will not be calling the defense if he gets a HC job. Maybe he will be a good HC if he hires a good DC who will call the defense. He does seem to have the leadership skills you want, but I don't think his X's and O's are good enough to name him HC. He's more or less Rizzi if he's not going to call the defense and if he's not great on one side of the ball.

I can see Glenn being a successful HC if he takes the Dan Campbell approach. Everyone I know who has worked with Glenn loves him, which says a lot about his character.

Kingsbury said he wasn’t taking any interviews until after they’re done playing, seems that approach is paying off.

No. A team getting penalized for 12 men on the field one time is not enough to disqualify a HC. If it was, there would be no HCs because it happens to every coach at one time or another. It's an issue when it's something that consistently happens and you can't know that from one game.

In addition, it's usually the responsibility of the HC to call timeouts and some HCs don't want anyone but them calling them. Finally, the players should be counting when on the field an the Lions staff was telling them to get someone off so it's not like the coaching staff didn't know it.

Agreed. I don't see him as a HC you hire based on what he can do on one side of the ball. You hire him if you want a CEO coach like Campbell that motivates the team and runs things while letting his coordinators run the offense and defense. But, I don't know if that is what he intends to do and even if he does, I'd prefer a offensive HC and if it's a defensive HC, I want someone that is a better DC than Glenn.

People listen to much to the media or let stats shape their opinion instead of actually watching games. Lions defense hasn’t been good… wow. I really can’t remember when they were ever good. But it certainly hasn’t been in the last 5 years.
Yup

No doubt. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's the wrong guy. I don't think he is the right guy, but not based on one game. I also don't think you should pick a coach based on who the fans like or who would excite them the most. Seems like a strategy destined for disaster.
