well the Pats only got 4 on 3rd downs. That doesn't fit into what most say is the narrative.

I really believe there is some truth to this.Don't forget that the Saints are responsible for the rule change that PI calls and non-calls can be challenged. That fact certainly doesn't endear them to the officials, whether the officials are reacting overtly or subconsciously.

Unsurprisingly stats show that we get zero help from the refs. We're dead last by far in automatic first downs from penalties against opposing teams.
Saints against the world. Currently 7-2 against the world
Jinx. Most of our automatic first down penalties that benefited us happens on 1st down. Some help, but not really.
If you click on penalties against, at first we are in the middle of the pack. But looking at those which occurred on 3rd and 4th down, we are tied for 3rd most!
I think we all could have probably guessed this, since it seems like all of these automatic first down penalties happen against the Saints after we make a great stop.
Jinx.
And what's even more important on things like that is sorta like "Hidden Yardage" but in this case it would be "Hidden Momentum" or something. You can't statistically analyze what those calls mean with regards to timing, flow of the game, and momentum gained/lost as a result. I think that is the real back breaker with these.
We have been. They just choose to enforce it the next time we have a long kick return.Don't forget.... touchdown scored... flag. kickoff return.... flag. Hell I'm surprised we haven't had a flag thrown on us during the national anthem.
We get a few declined third down penalties, don't bother types.the ones that are keep the ball or punt ones aka the third down keep the drive alive ones, they are rare indeed. Most of our automatic first down penalties that benefited us happens on 1st down. Some help, but not really.
