If L.A. Gets A Team, Seahawks May Move To AFC West

Here is the way I think it will go down.

Rams owner bought 60 acres in LA, then he leaked to a media member that they would be moving to LA after the season but weren't going to make the announcement until after the Super Bowl. Basically, he is just using LA for leverage but also as a last resort if taxpayers don't pony up for a new stadium.

The Raiders aren't being quite as aggressive just yet. They simply hired a direct mail company to send some surveys to a small percent of San Antonio residents asking them questions about whether they would support the Raiders. Really, this was a much cheaper way to put the rumors out and get the ball rolling towards a new stadium deal in Oakland.

My prediction it will all be the same next season except a couple teams will be getting new stadium deals. Next season the rumors of a team moving to LA will start up again when a light bulb goes out in one of the other stadiums around the league.

I hope that's not true, I dread the day that they can use LA as a cudgel to force us to replace Superdome...

I keep seeing Minnesota and San Antonio in the conversation... why?

Minnesota is getting a new stadium and Jerrah and Bob McNair will never let another team invade their markets

That day is coming, probably sooner rather than later. The lease goes through 2025. Will the Superdome still be good enough for the NFL in 2025? How much money will we put into it. The Superdome to me is going to be one of those timeless classic stadiums.. There have been others, wrigley field, solder field, yankee stadium, fenway, etc. but even Yankee stadium was eventually replaced. I'm in no hurry to move on from the superdome but one day it will happen.

I would not be surprised if the Saints get a new stadium after the lease. Like you said, even Yankee Stadium got demolished. The only problem will be to find a location as great as where the Dome is.
I know, when the lease ends, there will be at least, major renovations to the Dome if it stays.

In 2025 the dome will be 50 years old, still located in one of the most prime areas on the planet to throw a good party. Once a stadium reaches a certain age, the thought of tearing it down becomes unimaginable. The dome is nearing that age now. To put it in perspective, Lambeau is 57 years old right now. Considering the dome is made of almost all concrete, is plenty large enough (Still the largest fixed dome in the world), has plenty of space and room for most changes and it's proximity to the French Quarter along with a resume of historical events that rival or beat just about any stadium in the world we may be reaching the point in which it never gets torn down and replaced. I really think it reached that point when it was decided to renovate the dome after Katrina. If the horrible things that happened and the damage that was caused by Katrina didn't put a nail in that coffin then nothing will.

That is a joke rumor created to gain views.

No way Seattle is going back to the AFC.

This is exactly why L.A. does not need a team. When Seattle was moved to the NFC and they re-arranged the divisions, we finally had it balanced out. There was no more 4 team divisions and 5 team divisions and it was made better out (Carolina, Atlanta and New Orleans in the NFC West made no sense)

L.A. does not need a team at all. We had 32 teams and all the divisions are perfectly set with 4 teams. The NFL needs to get over this manifest destiny idea of endless expansion like they are a growing empire.
