Hypothetical: If Moore said no, then what? (40 Viewers)

Rich Eisen said the same on his show today. He said McCarthy and Kingsbury removed their names because
they knew Moore was going to be the hire. Like you said it just can't be announced until after the Super Bowl.
As far as I know, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver have not withdrawn their names. So if Eisen consistently applied his logic, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver have not been told they are no longer in consideration because Moore got the job. If Eisen were consistent with his logic, he would conclude that it appears at the moment that Moore, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver are the final candidates the Saints are considering at the moment.

Sports talking heads are not very good at being consistent in their logic and I think that's because they reverse engineer their opinions and conclusions. They think the Saints have got to be going with Moore. Then they see, well look some coaching candidates have pulled out, so that must mean that they know Moore is the guy. They overlook that their are still 3 other candidates that haven't withdrawn. They dismiss all of the other plausible reasons that McCarthy and Kingsbury chose to bow out.

Listen to the words they are actually saying. They are speculating and presenting their speculations as known facts. They don't know.

Moore might be the pick, but nothing that anyone knows proves one way or another that Moore will be the head coach. It's all speculation. So many people have sold themselves on Moore being the head coach, that if it ends up being someone else, they will be furious and negative as all get out.

This is what I was getting at the other day with you…not every candidate has the motive or need to formally preemptively announce to the world that they’re no longer a candidate. Some candidates want the job so bad and feel it is their only shot to the point where they’ll stay in it until the bitter end, just in case.

Only candidates with skins on the wall and/or a reputation to protect make these formal announcements. These “I am dropping out” announcements aren’t commonplace; only certain types do this.

This is true, but it's also true that we don't actually know the motivations behind the actions of any of these coaches. It's all guessing and guessing is when biases really kick in. People are guessing what they want to be true and then convincing themselves that their guesses are actual knowledge.

I think Kafka and Weaver still have jobs, but if Moore is the pick Rizzi most likely needs a new job and I'm confident the Saints would tell him that. I'm also confident that Rizzi would have started taking more interviews and possibly even taken a job. Have you heard anything about Rizzi increasing his efforts to get a new job? I haven't.

That could very well be the case, but it's speculation. None of us know if that's why Kakfa, Rizzi and Weaver haven't said anything yet. It could just as plausibly be because they were told they are still in consideration.

Sounds like he’ll be able to name his price because there’s literally nothing else.
We’re not hiring him because everyone else backed out and he’s all thats left. Everyone else backed out because they found out we were hiring him, so the salary was already decided.

If the Eagles win and he's feeling a little attached to the team, he could decide to run it back with them. Or if they lose he could do as Ben Johnson did last year and feel like he needed to give it one more shot. Nobody really know until they are in that moment. If that happens then it will look very bad for the team even if it has nothing to do with them because it would have been like the 4th guy to pass on the job. But we would still have a coach with Kafka, Weaver or as a very last resort, Rizzi.
The guys who pulled out could always go back in if Moore pulls out.

IMO, There’s no way that Mike would be an option in that scenario. He probably feels betrayed right now. Had he known he wasn’t getting the job, he’d still be at Dallas. Him shaking lose wasn’t just luck, he took a calculated risk and lost.
Not necessarily, he took a year off between GB and Dallas, these guys have bank, they don’t have to have a job lined up to quit the one they have like the middle class folks reading this board.

Kafka has really started to grow on me. His energy and zeal is contagious. He’s certainly my top choice.
His Zeal is off the charts. Swag as well. He has unmatched Mojo. Biggest "Je Ne Sais Quoi" of the candidates.

Rich Eisen literally works for the league-run network.

At that point, my limited hopes of turning into a franchise contender go out the window and I'm just hoping that the new coaching staff makes smart decisions in draft/free agency and can coach up the talent. Eventually, 4 or 5 years after we would have a talented roster and hopefully start looking for a new coach after missing the post-season year in and year out.

I'm sure that if Moore is the hire, Loomis will come out and say, "He was our guy all along"

I saw this on a YouTube thread and thought it would make for an interesting discussion.

We may not know until after the Super Bowl who the Saints next HC coach is, as these things are fluid and there's nothing solid until a contract is signed.

But, what if Moore finally turns them down, and we've seen things like this happen.

THEN WHAT??
Our local Highschool coach is pretty good.

I'm sure that if Moore is the hire, Loomis will come out and say, "He was our guy all along"
which is also an admission that "we were just jerking around all the other guys because we could. including the 2 minority interviews, who we weren't really considering, but were told we had to." I'll drop the "Lucky Loomis" moniker for "Lying Loomis".

I don't think Kafka was just a rooney rule interview. I believe there was genuine curiosity of capability. He is a leader. He does have a successful history with the Chiefs, but his time with the Giants really are hurting him. He's just having zero positive impact it looks like.
