Introducing 464lb NT Desmond Watson (1 Viewer)

We could introduce the NFL to the new 1-3-7 defense!

QB has to roll out every pass play just to be able to see around him. Then you only have to defend half the field.

On run downs, just have two LBs hide behing him and then jump out and ambush the runner as he tries to go around him.

Would be a hoot if Jaworski was still hosting his old X-and-O breakdown show to break that down on video for us

I know that's not Farley, but I keep hearing his Matt Foley character as I watch that

Endurance maybe an issue over 17/18 games
He is gonna have to drop to about 400lbs minimum. But with strength and conditioning he should be playing at 380-350.

That weight is gonna be killer on his frame as the years wear on.

Id draft him and put him on keto and a very heavy powerlifting program of deadlifts, cleans, bench press and squats.

For conditioning he needs to run hills. The only cardio he should be doing is anaerobic cardio. The cardio that builds muscle but sheds fat.

He will be a powerhouse for sure.

He could be an undrafted rookie free agent. You could sign him and keep him on the PS until his weight and cardio under control and in the meantime learn his position. I would take a flyer on him in the 6th or 7th round. Who knows what kind of player he could turn out to be at a lower weight and better conditioning. I'd like to see him at around 340#, also at a lighter weight his mobility would highly improve.

"Demonstrates better stamina than expected, appearing in every college game and playing meaningful snaps despite carrying historic weight on his frame."
I guess playing in every game for 4 years, is limited? Assumptions based on pictures & opinions don't ever tell the story. He isn't projected as a 4 down player on the DL, but he's got better O ball skills/speed than Ref Perry did & nobody could stop Perry from getting in the end zone. He wouldn't need help from a "tush push".
His coaches were impressed w/his athletic ability, speed & strength, since he first worked out as a freshman.
My niece's husband(the current DB coach for the Cardinals) was his DC for a year, had no problems at all w/him on or off the field!

He is nowhere near as mobile as Vince. Florida couldn't play him on run downs either because unless the back runs directly into him, he's not tackling anyone.

His lateral agility is nonexistent.
"Shows surprisingly nimble feet for his size, particularly when working laterally along the line of scrimmage to maintain gap integrity."
I guess your opinion should be valued over that of his coaches & NFL scouts?

LOL you're kidding right?

He was compared to one of the greatest NT of all time.

I've read that he showed up to Florida weighing 370lbs. They tried to get him to lose weight every year and he still managed to put on another 100lbs. It's a fun story but I don't like his chances at the next level.
Perhaps he’s still in his bulking phase?
