No, I don't think he is.

I think Dallas will want to keep him, but he may want to go elsewhere. Away form Jerry. With an expiring contract, it's not just Dallas that has the final say.

I like crazy theories, so I say Jets if he leaves Dallas.

Jones likely isn't going to let McCarthy walk. He's not very reactive and that Dallas team, while it hasn't played well, has continued to fight w/ Jones publically complementing him for not allowing them to give in. If his handling of Jason Garrett is any glimpse into what he's likely to do, McCarthy is getting resigned.

Would he be a candidate? Absolutely...the familiarit for Loomis is there and he fits the "experienced" criteria that Loomis values.

If I was McCarthy, I would take every interview offered. Jerry did him dirty having him coach on the last year of his deal. It's just bad business. You don't want assistant coaches thinking about where they are going to be next year. What schools they're going to be sending their kids to, etc.

Mike McCarthy is a winner, but is in a bit of an oddball environment.

Don’t let the stain of wearing that star we all hate for so long cloud your judgment, McCarthy is a very good coach that gets results.

He gets results, sure, but aside that great 2010 SB run, how many potential other SB appearances and wins has he lost out on because he got massively out-coached, his teams out-played, and frankly, in key pressure moments in post-season games in GB and Dallas, he choked. 2009, going 15-1 in 2011 and falling flat on his fat arse against a 9-7 NYG team, getting beat two years in a row by S.F. in 2012-13, losing a NFCCG he had dead to rights @ Seattle but due to horrendous late-game HC and bad luck, GB choked away a near 2-TD lead in the last 4:00 minutes. He had two HOF QB's and all he has to show for it is one SB and that game couldve easily gone other way if Pittsburgh doesn't make a few key turnovers in the 2nd half.

When it comes to winning close post-season games, McCarthy is no Belichick or Andy Reid and he loses far more then he wins.

To me, SBs are a function of frequent playoff visits combined with sheer luck. Not everyone can be Reid or Belichick; those are anomalies.

Give me a coach that has me in the dance with a good record often, like a SP, and I’ll take my chances.

If the vision you have for Saints next head coach is the results of Belichick or Reid, then your expectations are way too high.

Sean Payton didn't exactly choke away close playoff games with the same consistent regularity as McCarthy has done for close to 20 years in GB and Dallas. Neither has Mike Tomlin for that matter in Pittsburgh. I don't expect anomalies but is it too much to expect we couldn't hire proven winners like Mike Vrabel or poach Aaron Glenn away from Detroit? Payton and Tomlin can make average, mediocre-at-best teams look better then they are whereas McCarthy has mostly won with teams that are sort of already built to contend and have great, All-Pro talent sort of in place.

My expectations are more in the Matt Lafleur, Vrabel range caliber. NFL HC's who tend to over-achieve and can win games their not supposed to.

Are Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb coming with him?

Mike seems like he has a ceiling. He also seems to not have a robust personality, but a tad more than Dennis Allen had.

I never can trust whether the Cowboys are playing for him on any Sunday. In the playoffs, he is ineffective managing Dak. It turns into herpa derpa.

I have to acknowledge you make a very good point. I guess I'm comparing him to Glenn, Brady and Kingsbury -- none of whom I want the Saints to hire.

If it were me and Vrabel and Johnson are not interested, I'd take a chance with a college coach like Lanning at Oregon or Freeman at Notre Dame.
