Is PC the real problem with offense? (1 Viewer)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here is my picture.
QB had to pick a side, chose wrong. FB gets open in the flat while Dalton tries to take advantage of a 1v1 matchup with Callaway.

I think that DA is holding offense back. From 1st half to beginning of 3rd quarter Saints were aggressive on offense and defense. After that they were so conservative they nearly let Tampa back in the game. On offense no receivers, bunched line trying to run up the middle on 1st and 2nd down having to throw on 3rd and long.
Nah pc had last year and this one to improve. Both need to be gone. Hopefully Pete this offseason then DA follows next.

As long as DA is the HC, this team will continue to be a passive team. The offense will not attack a defense and the defense will not attack an offense, it's not in DA's nature.

More about Hill and Olave being on the sidelines on a critical 3rd and 1.

Which is why I call Pete’s substitutions Sean Payton Cosplay, because I don’t see a circumstance in which Payton would swap out WR1 for WR4 on a 3rd-and-1
Payton did the same thing. Just picking 2017, on 3rd and short Michael Thomas was on the bench 21% of the time. In his place? Players like Ted Ginn, Willie Snead, Brandon Coleman.

Edit: here’s an example, down 10-0 early in a playoff game and MT13 is nowhere to be seen on 3rd & 1. Snead is in his place. We get stopped and have to punt.

The difference is Payton's body of work is proven and successful. Did he have some headscratchers? Of course. But Payton immediately established himself so there was a lot less questioning of his playcalling, because he clearly was a lot more right than wrong. In 2006, the Saints offense lead the league in yards and finished fifth in scoring. The situation here is also dramatically different. 3:58 left in the first quarter. Swing and miss on this and there is still more than 75% of the game left to play.

Payton also had Brees and better OL play, when Carmichael had the same we also had a top offense. With one of the worst pass blocking lines and Carr, it’s going to be a big step backwards.

As for time left, it’s the playoffs, if you asked SR probably 9 out of 10 would say plays on 3rd without MT shouldn’t even be on the call sheet. As it stands, we were out there without him again on 3rd and 1 in the third quarter of the same game, down 17-0.

This team is lacking in talent up front and is still unclear at best at QB. Not saying PC is perfect by any means, but I expect significant disappointment some time mid season next year if we replace our OC and don’t solve the OL/QB issues.

The Saints converted the third down on this play, it was a QB sneak. The Saints also had their best short yardage running back in the game as well. When you look at the formation, personnel, and playcall, you can't put a negative on Payton for not having Thomas in.

Carmichael is a problem and needs to be shown the door. That doesn't excuse Carr or the poor performance from the OL either. The Saints offense as a whole has some serious issues, but this is a thread about PC hence my focus being on PC.

He is a part of the problem not the entire problem

If Carr would make about 3 fewer errors per game, we wouldn't be looking for DA's head.

Any combination of fewer unnecessary sacks, INT's, fumbles, not hitting receivers in stride, missing wide open receivers would have us firmly at the top of the NFCS. Technically that's a DA problem, he picks the QB.

I've been saying this for 30 years.... Mora was the reason our offense sucked.

I love it... every time people keep trying to say Sean was God... NO the hell he wasn't. Sean had major problems that only got slightly better when Brees had ZERO arm strength. And he still has those problems in Denver. "Sean had all these Sub packages" No Sean got too cute with his maneuvers too many times to count.
