Israel (now broader Mid East discussion) (4 Viewers)

There are mos def some who don't ask enough questions. Whether it's hubris -- which I suspect is extremely common -- or the desire to not, as I said, look stupid.

For myself, no, I don't want to be thought of as dumb. But also, I don't want to look like I'm just in search of someone telling me WHAT to think if I were to ask them what THEY think. But I do like to ask people what they think, esp. if I suspect I'm likely to not agree with them. I don't get a whole lot from protests and people waving their signs. I don't desire to dwell in confrontation, but nor do I desire to dwell in an echo chamber.
Understood and agreed…. It’s also not a bad idea to have people talk to you…. Instead of at you. Good for you. Keep at it. Someone has to.

Right.

Correct.

They may or may not. It depends.

Not stupid at all. And I'm sure Sam can expand a bit on your questions.
I think you've got those questions covered. Adding more before that has time to be thought about and reflected upon would be counter productive.

I could over time expand it by about 20,000 big folo pages, with teeny tiny print, where they use all of the margin space to cram in extra bits. I'm making a volume reference to the oral law, the Talmud.

He doesn't always speak for me, but today at this moment in time, he speaks for me.

Absolutely. That tactic of cutting off necessities makes me really uncomfortable. I think it's immoral, and they need to rectify that immediately. Can't let terrorists steal your humanity.

And I get why they're doing it, but even that horrific attack doesn't justify it. When you act like the terrorists you lose a lot of moral justification for your actions.

Well, now, I specifically said Cliff notes

Jews don't like the idea of falling off of cliffs. If three words will do it, they will will use 40.

In Hebrew even the numbers are words. This is the way 40 is spelled, "ארבעים" it has meaning as a number, and as a word. As a word 40 means life, growth, or transformation.

Important things take 40 days,,, or 40 years. The rains of the Great Flood lasted for 40 days and nights. Moses with his people wandered in the desert for 40 years.

40,000 is the population of a tribe, or people, even if it's not the actual population.
