Israel (now broader Mid East discussion) (6 Viewers)

It’s going to be hard now to differentiate between partisan politics and “other” on this thread. Please be thoughtful about extending comments beyond Middle East POLICY; otherwise we’re going to have to delete anything related to the Trump Administration’s policies which could delete much important discussion here.

The President of the United States just announced that the US intends to occupy, raze, develop and inhabit Gaza.

What discussion can we have without involving politics? Im over on MAP as well- might as well close this thread because we have now moved into a whole different phase of discussion on this topic.

Im keen to let stay open but dont think we can have a true discussion on Israel/Gaza/ME here without bringing up the current ideology of the US and Israel, which is all political.

I agree, but it comes at the cost of being thoughtful to keep a post policy-based and not partisan based.

For illustrative purposes, the objectionable part of the deleted post was: "77 million voted for this guy. Reap what you sow." That's partisan, outside the scope of policy. This thread and the Ukraine thread have been EXCEPTIONS to the non-politics rule, and not a resetting of the EE-wide standard of avoiding commentary that would be inclined to invite partisan bickering.

You're welcome to implore Andrus to change the approach but, until he does, we moderate in accordance with his set rules.

LOL yeah i forgot about that part of the post lol.

all good.

Biden never suggested what Trump is suggesting. Not even close. He could have done more, sure, but let's not think that one is the same as the other.

Biden supplied the never ending funds for missiles and other munitions to help Israel complete their slaughter and razing of Gaza. Trump stated the quiet part everyone knew was coming out loud - openly stating support for ethnic cleansing among other horrific statements.

There is no “better” when both are involved in assisting a genocide. While we could certainly make the argument that Trump’s optics are much worse - what do the actions say?

Well, all due respect, you're wrong. I'm no fan of Biden and this isn't a political statement, but his official position as late as January of this year was that Palestinians should return to all areas of Gaza. This was part of phase 1 of their cease-fire and hostage exchange deal.

And during phase one, the Palestinians can also return to their neighborhoods in all the areas of Gaza, and the surge of humanitarian assistance into Gaza will begin, and the innocent people can have a greater access to these vital supplies.
