It will take time to develop Rattler, Haener or possible first round quarterback. (7 Viewers)

I'm not too crazy about the quarterbacks coming out next year, and the needs are many. My guess is we won't have a shot at anyone worthy of a first round pick and will go BPA (as we should), but may look for someone later in the draft to add to the room.

How the heck do you know what 2026 is going to be like? I know for sure nobody knew Burrow and Daniels were going to be first round picks a year out. Hell mid senior season people on here were talking about getting them in the 3rd round.

No way Arch only plays one year of college.
That’s crazy, mid senior year everyone with any knowledge knew Daniels was shooting up the draft boards. But yes, at the conclusion of their junior years Burrow was considered a 5th and Daniels a 3rd or 4th.

Technically though, you’re correct. We don’t know. I’m just going off the players that could come out that season. I agree about Arch, although it’s just as asinine to say “no way” but I do agree.

However, your response doesn’t make much sense because I obviously said AS OF NOW, BUT THINGS COULD CHANGE. You know, like that did for Daniels.

As far as the future at QB that's why I took the need to see more than a few nice drives. It would be nice to see these kids get a fair shot with a supporting cast but if you are a true number one you should be to at least put the team in a position to score a couple of field goals and we got shut out.

Both QBs right now are at the point of show me you can be a good number 2 and neither have shown it consistently. Time will tell and I would be happy if one of them proves to be a solid number 2. Circumstances will have to give them the opportunity or a new head coach that is so sold on them that they start next year which is a reach in itself.

I think they roll with Carr next year and try and fix as much of the team as they can but next year will (or should be a cap cleansing year) but with the cap holding us back we need to draft more players than we have in the past. This draft will tell the mindset of where the franchise wants to go.

I don't have cable and couldn't watch the game last night but checking the score made me thankful I didn't have access to it lol.

Imagine KU's football team playing any top 5 ranked team.

Yes. It was that bad.

Incase you've never seen KU's football team play, even KU fans are embarrassed by it. When they beat Colorado, you almost thought they won 10 years worth of national titles the way they were celebrating.

Ughh yeah...I wasn't too disappointed that I would be missing it but then to see that score...that's just bad. Sounds like watching the actual game was way more painful than having to see a score like 34-0 the next day. Seeing that score which is a high bar in disappointment and hearing the game was as even worse, oi vey....

I know there are a few Team Haener and Team Rattler here but everyone needs to take a chill pill with expectations for these young quarterbacks. No quarterbacks, (hall of famer, veterans, Super Bowl winners or MVP) can come in and spark this offense into winning games. We have 4 receivers that should be on the practice squad starting in a game, an offensive line that struggle all year long with injuries and inconsistency, a run game that can't be relied on and a defense that looks almost as bad as 2012 2014 2015 defense. To expect a fifth rounder to come in and be that savior is absurd. If Green Bay can give their first rounders (Rodgers and Love) a few years to learn and patience, why can't we? It took Brees 3 years before San Diego was winning. Love, in place of Rodgers, were horrible his first few starts. It took 2 years before he became a full time starter. He didn't get going until the middle of last year. With both of these guys, I see something I like. Although they struggled, I am not giving up on them. Not saying they will be the next franchise, but give them some times. Even if a quarterback is drafted first next year, don't expect too much too soon. Understand patience with them.
You can't develop any QB, rookie or otherwise if the FO doesn't address the problems on the OL.
The G play was atrocious last night...

I read an article recently that said the Saints should move Penning to G and draft or bring in a FA OT to replace him...
That might not be a bad idea.

DL was atrocious last night...
The LB play was atrocious last night...
We don't have a LB that can start on any other team in the NFL right now!

Gay did not pick up the TE last night which left K.A. McKinstry trying to cover 2 people...
Ugly...Ugly...Ugly

I agree. I see 2 career backups who may not even be good enough to be backups in the NFL. Neither is better than the other at this point. We don't have a healthy NFL QB on the roster. Shoulda kept Winston or Dalton.

We are stuck with Carr for another year, IMO. The cap and personnel have been completely mismanaged since Sean left.

Otherwise, clean house on this team and start spending high picks on Oline and Dline. Every overpriced veteran needs to do us a favor and retire. Embrace suckage for 2-3 seasons and start over.

First mistake: hiring DA as the head coach. 2nd mistake: double down on the first mistake and let the wrong head coach spend money on a middle of the road QB who isn't any better than the 2 cheap guys we could have kept for no cost.

It's a dumpster fire at this point.
Just as big of a mistake is giving old players on the verge of retirement contract extensions which forced young, upcoming players to leave for starting jobs elsewhere...

Shoulda kept Hedrickson,
Shoulda kept Braun,

Shoulda let C. Jordan leave...
Shoulda let D. Davis leave...

Here's a thread from late October with some debate in there about 1st, 2nd, 3rd round for Daniels. The same thing happened with Burrow. Point is right now we have no idea who the top QB prospects are going to be fore 2026.

Cam Ward never played a good game against a defense with NFL talent in the SEC. This past year he didn’t play any. The prior year when he did, he sucked. Same can be said for Carson Beck and Jaxson Dart who completely floundered against Kentucky due to Deone Walker. Then you have Ewers who completely gives most people Colt McCoy vibes.

Pass on QB this year. Gonna have to role with Carr and Rattler backing him up for 2025.
They can draft a QB just not in the early rounds.

I’m strongly leaning towards our future QB isn’t on the roster currently….Rattler doesn’t look ready to play in the NFL, he maybe one day….but we need a young QB sooner rather than later….

And that cap philosophy will only extend our crappiness another year. We're at a point were if we want to ever be good again, we gotta fix our cap.

At this point, I question our ability to even sign a good coaching candidate because of the cap mismanagement. We've been a sinking ship since the moment DA was named HC, and as of this moment, the only hope we had was that the owner stepped in to fire Dennis Allen. Considering the cap issues, our inability to sign good talent in free agency, its really, really hard to imagine that Ben Johnson would even consider coming here. Or Joe Brady.

In fact, any coach that isn't desperate for a head coaching job will likely pass on us. Maybe even Aaron Glenn. I would if I were him. Whoever comes here, I don't understand how they wouldn't be able to see that they're not being put in a position to succeed.

And a failed gig as a head coach could easily be a career killer and ruin chances of ever being a head coach again.

I’ve seen this narrative many, many times and I really don’t put much stock into it…..There are precious few HC jobs open every year, and most are not the ideal situation….

The new headcoach should not have to be married to any quarterbacks in the room. He needs to be given the chance to bring in his own guy if that's his preference. The new coach needs to be given the opportunity to build his own team.
Yes burn it all down. No sacred cows. Let whoever comes in make their own decisions and live or die by them.

Which is exactly why the top coaching candidate (Ben Johnson) last offseason decided to turn down the Panthers job while one of the lower candidates (Dave Canales) took the job for the Panthers, who still suck big butthole. Because its about all they could get.

One of the least attractive jobs in history was the Saints open vacancy in 2006…..it works both ways….
