It will take time to develop Rattler, Haener or possible first round quarterback. (3 Viewers)

Here's a thread from late October with some debate in there about 1st, 2nd, 3rd round for Daniels. The same thing happened with Burrow. Point is right now we have no idea who the top QB prospects are going to be fore 2026.

We can come up with pie in the sky trade proposals if we want to....but if the owners ain't sellin it's a waste of time. Nobody is going to just accept a mid round first and a subsequent OT instead of a trajectory altering player just because we really want him.

Cin wasn't trading the Burrow pick...Wash wasn't going to skip their chanxe to grab a QB...we need not to hastily take a QB this coming draft either. Once the bottom falls all the way out we'll be able get whoever we want.

How did our staff miss so badly on Braun!

They didn't miss on him though. He's turned into exactly what Michael Hodges saw when they drafted him and Baun credits Hodges with his development.

Hodges continued, “Well, there was enough movement skills to say, this guy could play a different position besides Sam linebacker and I told Jeff (Ireland) very early in the process, when we watched him, I see Sam, Mike, boom. Like I wrote it down. It was the first note I wrote on him and really that aligned with other people’s vision as well. And it gave us the confidence to go get him where we did and Sean (Payton) agrees with it.”

It takes time to develop mid round guys, when you have it people see it immediately. Stop making excuses for our lack of talent at the most critical position. The philosophy of mediocrity that has overtaken this board since Drew left is amazing.

We miss on him by making the mistake of letting him leave as a FA...

I know there are a few Team Haener and Team Rattler here but everyone needs to take a chill pill with expectations for these young quarterbacks. No quarterbacks, (hall of famer, veterans, Super Bowl winners or MVP) can come in and spark this offense into winning games. We have 4 receivers that should be on the practice squad starting in a game, an offensive line that struggle all year long with injuries and inconsistency, a run game that can't be relied on and a defense that looks almost as bad as 2012 2014 2015 defense. To expect a fifth rounder to come in and be that savior is absurd. If Green Bay can give their first rounders (Rodgers and Love) a few years to learn and patience, why can't we? It took Brees 3 years before San Diego was winning. Love, in place of Rodgers, were horrible his first few starts. It took 2 years before he became a full time starter. He didn't get going until the middle of last year. With both of these guys, I see something I like. Although they struggled, I am not giving up on them. Not saying they will be the next franchise, but give them some times. Even if a quarterback is drafted first next year, don't expect too much too soon. Understand patience with them.
Time and stability in a system with good coaching helps young QB’s. Look no further than the development of Bryce Young his first year had a disaster situation with coaching and then a new coach/system to learn this season. This season he was practically thrown in the garbage. He gets benched then gets another crack at it and suddenly he becomes the guy they drafted. His development almost took 2 full seasons of on job learning but here we are with 3 games to go in year 2 and he is comfortable having fun again.

Think about this too they were trying to move him at the trade deadline they were a phone call from giving up on him even considering what they gave up to get him.

QB’s need time and they almost never get it.

I agree that’s it’s too early to tell if either will be any good in a few years. I vote to pick up a young qb to compete and keep the best of the three on the practice squad and sign a vet backup. Maybe we can get lucky if we keep trying but no way should we go into next season with either as our number two.
