It's the Saints’ ownership..... (1 Viewer)

It’s true. She’s only 17th in the league. That seems like middle of the pack, but in actuality, the difference of 1 billion is a lot of money.
She’s worth $6.1 billion. Someone who is worth $7.1 billion is substantially more wealthy by a great margin. Still, she has way more than I do🤣

Can someone tell me honestly why Sean Payton left the Saints? I feel like if he would have just left because he was burned out or whatever then he wouldn't throw so much shade our way and be stealing players all the time. He took most of his coaches. Don't you wish he was here doing his Sean Payton thing???

What "shade" is he throwing our way? He is claiming players that he and, in the case of Perry, Carmichael thinks fit his system. It's not at all surprising that some of those are Saints players when we were the only other team in the NFL that ran his system and we had run it for almost 20 years so we had been selecting players to fit that system for almost 20 years. Plus, he has familiarity with many of those players.

He left because he was burned out and wanted something new. He explained it in his press conference. And if you think he is "throwing shade", if there was more to the story he would certainly tell that story. Payton is nothing if not petty.

Payton was a great coach for us and he had a relationship with this team and city that was special. I'm not sure he can replicate that in Denver and I'm not sure he could do it again here. He doesn't seem to be quite as driven as he once was. Which is understandable given his age and all the success and money he has.

I wish him well other than when he plays the Saints or needs to lose to help the Saints. But, Payton's time here is over and we have no choice but to move on. Being melancholy about it won't change anything.

I think that is the problem he is talking about. The owner seems absent if the people below her are running amuck. Sweet lady, though.

"THE PROBLEM IS LEADERSHIP", Should we not look to the owner for leadership?
Lol that's kind of a great point. Hard to argue with that.

The difference between NOLA and Denver is that Sean is the standard here.
In Denver, he’s not. Shanahan is the standard there.

The culture of the team is recent years is status quo, stability, patience. We didn’t materially try to upgrade anything after Payton left and we’ve been bending over and taking it from the league since bountygate. We’re operating like we’re just happy to be here, playing our bit role in the big picture of the league.

That’s an indictment of both ownership and administration. We’re in purgatory until something major changes.

When it comes to billionaires, "not *that* wealthy" doesn't register to me.

Yeah it felt weird saying that someone who is worth $6 billion pales in comparison to her counterparts. Honestly, I’m shocked she is worth that much. Thought she was in the $3 billion range, so good for her

Well, SP also said in an interview, that the Broncos owners had “power”, or something to that effect. So, yes, that is a level of shade. Personally I don’t think he was burnt out. I think he wanted to go to a place where he could have some people behind him, that would challenge Goodell if he ever needed it. If not, then why make that “power” comment on record.

He said the Broncos had tradition.
And that’s always been on Payton’s list.
That’s why he wanted the GB in 05.

That’s no knock against the Saints, but their history stretches only about two decades in the national consciousness.

If he wasn't burnt out and still wanted to coach, why not just demand a trade to another team instead of retiring and taking a year off to do TV. Call it burn out or he wanted to try something new, but it wasn't because he had issues with ownership or the front office. Otherwise why do the big nostalgic press conference?

I don't recall the "power" comment but I think any comment he made was about the jobs that were available at the time and why he would want one of those jobs as opposed to a shot at Gayle or the Saints. And again, when Sean is angry or wants to be petty, he doesn't hide it. He shouts it for the world to hear. If he had issues with Saints ownership or the front office, he would have long ago aired that dirty laundry in public either on his daughter's podcast or through a leak by Prisco.

If the Saints had to move to Arkansas, where would they play?

Bentonville, Little Rock?

it has to be near those areas.

If the NFL gets back to relocation/ expansion talk I think the following cities will be considered.

St. Louis
San Diego
Maybe Oakland
