Jahri Evans Is A Semifinalist For The HOF (2 Viewers)

Please forgive my old soul here, but Jim Plunkett's two rings are more impressive than Eli's two. We've said it millions of times on here before, so here's a million and 1 -- if we play sound defense for just one more play against the Niners in 2011, Eli would have just one ring. And perhaps Drew would have two.

I really don't see Eli Manning in the HoF. He had one season where I thought he put up "elite" numbers, and they didn't even win one playoff game that season IIRC. 2008, I think.

OTOH, he outdueled the so-called GOAT twice to win Lombardi trophies and Super Bowl MVPs, and I bet that holds a lot of sway with HoF voters.
As a State fan, he deserves in regardless of my opinion of OM. Had the iron man record for a long time, was always consistent and really clutch when it mattered most. Those 2 teams really had no business being in the SB, much less winning besides him and the pass rush.

Manning had such an odd career. He was average in the regular season, but still managed to get 2 Super Bowl wins
It’s amazing what a team can accomplish with a stellar defense and mediocre offense. If only SP had focused more on the other side of the ball when building his teams. There aren’t many top 3 offenses and mediocre defenses that won it all in the modern NFL.

Evans was such a stud, and to think he wasn’t even the best guard on the team when Carl was also here.

Hoping he gets in as he surely deserves to imo.

There is no set number, so there is nothing to increase.
HoF elects 4-9 players per year.

For about a decade now there’s been chatter about an election backlog, and it’s only grown as more greats finish their careers.

That decade coincides with a run of non-worthy QBs hanging em up, since that position seems to be more boom-or-bust in terms of HoF worthiness/belief thereof.

This persists even with most recent classes being on the high side - most recent classes have elected at least seven, with a bigger 2020 class for the 100-year NFL anniversary.

It's actually 4-8. Those are chosen from 20 finalists made up from 15 modern era players, 3 veteran players, 1 coach, and 1 contributor.

Like it or not, Eli is a near lock to get in for the simple fact he won 2 rings for the Giants. I don't agree, but I also don't get a vote. That franchise is overweighted in the Hall for a reason - the sportswriters are overly biased towards them and their stars.

As for Evans, I'd love to see him get in but would be surprised it it were to happen this year. The Evans/Nicks guard tandem was the best of times for our beloved team.

Gates should be the only lock. A bunch of guys here that will make it in but it doesn't have to be this year, Jahri included. Could be the year to let in players that have been waiting too long like Torry Holt.
The committee seems to like to group teammates together when they can. I could see Keuchley and Steve Smith going in.
They're going to make Jahri wait until next year when Breesus is a shoo-in.

That's what I was thinking.

If I remember correctly, didn't Rickey Jackson get voted in the last time the SB was held in New Orleans?
Sam Mills. 2012.
Jackson was the first Saint and he was inducted in 2010 right after XLIV.
