Janoris Jenkins (1 Viewer)

With PJ banged up, Bell banged up, P-Rob banged up, CGJ a rookie, and Apple getting burnt, sliced, flagged, fried, and diced...
We need DB help however we can get it.

Whatever Jenkins "is" at this time, I think he's WAY WAY WAY better than any DB any of us even even dared dream we'd be able to pick up two weeks before the playoffs.

In Dennis Allen's scheme, we often like to have a lot of DBs on the field and there isn't really all that much difference between strong safety and slot corner.

And regardless how we line them up or who we start where and when... losing a starting corner in the playoffs could mean an early exit. Having an Eli Apple or Janoris Jenkins to come off the bench could mean a championship.

This 1,000 times. Speculation on who the #2 CB are moot when we've had to overcome so many injuries and Lattimore has chronic hamstring issues. We've been blessed to *mostly* healthy at DB this year but the dropoff from our top 2 outside DBs to whoever would have to step up was huge before this. Now we have 3 good to great outside DBs going into the playoffs. Gotta love that.

There are people who just will never give Apple his due. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard the announcer say ‘Apple has great coverage but the receiver made a fantastic catch.

then he plays opposite Lattimore so he is the one people go after. Unless a team has two shut down corners, the other will look bad by comparison. NO team in the NFLhas two shut down corners.

with Lattimore on the other side J Jenkins will be the one they go after. He will play well if healthy, but he will not shutdown the other side. Whoever a team targets, that corner will get some ball caught on them. And they will get some penaltiescalled on them. That is the nature of playing cornerback in the league with the current rules and these inconsistent refs. Period

You can come up with whatever reasoning you want to come up with, that’s totally your right. But, you either produce or you don’t.

You say that about the announcers yet every game the last 4 weeks the announcers have pointed out his bad play and how teams are picking on him.

I gave Apple his due when he was playing well, I still want Apple to continue to find his way back to that. But, I provided factual evidence to back up my claim. Can you? No, you can’t. Not over the last 6 weeks. He’s had bad ball skills and a lot of times flat out bad coverage. He’s lost some confidence which has caused him to become a little handsy and also causes him to at times watch the QB trying to cheat a little.

Can he get back to being solid? Absolutely. Has he been downright BAD the last 6 weeks, without question.

Check out the QB ratings against. JJ stinks at tackling per Giants fans & the data shows it. Everything else shows he's an upgrade tho.

It was pointed out earlier but too much focus is being put on is Apple going to get benched etc etc, we will play all three of these cb's if healthy and they will ALL will be on the field and the Saints will be stronger for it. Strengthening this unit before the playoffs is great for us period

My Giants friends say Jenkins is great, a real #1 at his position but is surrounded by a dumpster fire of a team that doesn’t help him play to his full potential. The Giants supposedly paid the biggest part of his contract and my fan friends are mad they let him go. They think he is easily better than Apple. If they are right, see Jenkins, Apple, and Lattimore together as soon as possible.

THIS. I agree.

Great pickup for now and for the future. He looks re-energized and relieved to be out of NY. This pickup gives us 3 CB1s (Apple has played like CB1 on occasions) and with Jenkins he's a savvy veteran that will be needed on this deep playoff run.
