N/S Jason Garrett Still Not Fired (yet) (4 Viewers)

Why would a coach who's about to be fired need to complete exit interviews? What good is that going to do?

Seems like an excuse to not fire him? Maybe Jones is just waiting for his contract to run out this month. That's the only reason not firing him yet would make any sense if he intends to let him go.

Yeah I suppose that’s true - didn’t think about it from that angle. Maybe they’re moving JG to a different position? Assistant Director of Football Operations?

Could you imagine having to work for the team that just canned you as their head coach? I've heard rumblings about them finding a spot for him in the organization but I don't know if I'd be able to do it.

He wont be fired.

So in the past few days, he has met with Cowboys minority owners, and multiple times with Jerry and Stephen Jones. He's definitely not leaving the organization - I'm just wondering if he's going to remain head coach or move "up" to some kind of executive position. I'm leaning toward the latter.

It also depends perhaps on who they can get at HC if not Garrett. Perhaps that's part of the deal. It's certainly unusual.

I bet they're finding out that being the coach of the Cowboys isn't the attractive job they thought it'd be. Maybe if Jerry would back off and hire an actual GM it'd be more attractive. I'm willing to bet that most coaches don't want to deal with ownership on a daily basis.

It's weird that we haven't heard about Lincoln Riley anywhere. I think he's secretly agreed to be the next coach. But I'm hoping they keep Garrett as HC.

If Jason was worth anything he would voluntarily leave the Cowboys organization to make it on his own. He had 10 years and never really sniffed a SB threat.

There is no way JG can come back as HC because the fans would revolt and merchandise sales would drop to near nothing. What I think is happening is that Jerry Jones is trying to find a way for JG not to go to coach another team because if he did and he had better success then that would be really bad for Jerry.

Jerry Jones has said many times that he did not want to give up on JG after investing so much developing him. He has said JG would immediately be hired by another team and he did not want to see that. This is about covering Jerry Jones at this point.

That sort of makes sense but why would Garrett need to meet with minority ownership if that is what is going on?

That does not make much sense to me at all. Jerry lets everyone know he is the decision maker and I doubt he cares much about what some minority owners have to say. Maybe it some clause in their ownership agreement to have an exit meeting so they can know the status of the organization from the person leaving.??
