Jeff Duncan on Sean Payton 2023 (3 Viewers)

The more I think about this, the more I think there may be a chance of it.
1. Brady and Payton are clearly desperate to work with each other, they tried to do it here and Miami.
2. Payton’s ego is huge. As much as he may have been bored in New Orleans, the prospect of all the fanfare that would go with him returning must appeal to him.
3. It’s probable at this point that the Chargers sneak into the playoffs and take the cheap option of sticking with Staley.
4. If the above happens then what is more appealing, New Orleans with Tom Brady and a strong roster or Arizona with Kyler Murray?
5. Underhill saying “Anything is possible” tells me there’s some basis of truth to Payton considering a return.

All that being said, the point about the story being by Jeff Duncan remains.

It’d still be seen as Jerry’s parade though if the Cowboys host it. If it’s the city of Dallas’ parade, the crowd would be as big as the group of people in the Hulk Hogan pic. Nothing can top a New Orleans parade, especially one involving Payton or the Saints.

Dallas is Jerry’s world. N.O. is practically Payton’s town if he comes back.
I think McCarthy bought himself another year.

I think McCarthy bought himself another year.
All McCarthy has to do is win a playoff game and he’ll be there for a few more seasons at the least. If he finally gets Dallas to the NFCCG like they’re suppose to, after all these yearly high regular season W totals, (and do it again) then he could be safe for a while for like the next 5+ years.

I don’t think they’ll get to the NFCCG because I still think it’s Philadelphia Vs SF/Minnesota, but they should beat the Bucs.

SF and Minnesota both could potentially play division rivals in the first round. They’ll have some tough matchups if Seattle and Detroit gets in.

Dallas has a shot at the NFCCG if Seattle gets the 6 seed and wins at SF, or if Detroit beats Minnesota. Minnesota looks beatable and Purdy’s going to come down from this high at some point. Outside of Philly and our terrible division, rest of the NFC seeds looks even and can go either way.

An equity position in the team and/or adding the GM title might get his attention and give him reason to commit to a long term process. He helped create this miss, I’d have renewed respect if he committed to fixing it, and I certainly wouldn’t blame him for leveraging his position to do so.

No way Brees signs up to be Brady's OC lol. But I can see a possibility of Payton and Brady partnering up for a 1 year run in 2023 in NOLA. Brady has one more year tops in him I believe, the easiest and probably only path for them to team up would be with the Saints. It could essentially be a one year deal for Payton that would allow him to leave the Saints in a better way, possibly with one more title before he leaves for good and we trade him in the 2024 off-season hypothetically to one of the younger QB's that he wants to work with. He could get a two in one type of situation where he gets to coach Brady then possibly the next year the Herberts or Kyler Murray's of the world. I dont think its that far fetched to ponder. Despite our record when our top players are healthy we have as much talent as most teams out there I dont care what anyone says. We've seen what this core can do when we have good QB play

Just keep in mind, even if the Saints don’t get Brady, maybe coming to a wide open NFCS could be a plus.

I have seen some people putting down one of the reasons that Sean Payton would not come back to the Saints is that the team doesn't have a first round pick in 2023. You also have to consider that the Saints asking price for compensation for Sean Payton has only gone UP since he "retired" and any other team he would possibly go to would also not have a first round pick in 2023 and likely more picks missing in 2023 or beyond. You have to figure that Sean Payton knows he's worth more that one first round pick.

I'd fire DA in a heartbeat if CSP said he wanted back in. I'd make him the highest paid coach in history and give him 5% of the team if he wins another Super Bowl and 2% if he stays five or more years.

I think if Sean Payton would come back, this would be beneficial for everyone.

1. It's Sean Payton, there is no better HC option for the Saints next season
2. For SP the NFC South should be his first choice. All teams are struggling this season. It might be less stressfull, even to be involved in a Saints rebuild, as to start in another devision locked in fierce competition
3. SP knows, even when we are locked for years because of dead money, there is still a lot of talent in this team. A return of SP would not only pushs veterans like Kamara, but the entire fanbase
4. On the current coach roster, there is no Defensive Coordinator in place, we actually do have "only" to CO-DCs. Means, when SP would come back, DA can become ones more the DC. He has still a job, Loomis and Ms. Benson will be still considered as loyal bosses, what they prefer to be so

DA can’t go back to being DC, that isn’t how it works in any industry. You don’t fail at a promotion then return to your old job. Also, you would be waving bye to both Nielsen and Richard if you did that. Either Allen is HC of the Saints next year, or he’s no longer contracted to the franchise. Hopefully the latter.

It’s not gonna happen, don’t get your hopes up.

Payton literally has his pick of what team he wants. There’s only a few teams that don’t need a coach of his caliber
