Jeff Duncan on Sean Payton 2023 (1 Viewer)

Thanks for responding....well said....

The fans needs to understand that he really can’t make his own call in regard to getting his old job back.

Also, some fans seem to think they have inside information and know things as "facts"....or, you don't know either.....the only folks that know how much influence/power CSP has in the Saints organization are the owner and management....

DA can’t go back to being DC, that isn’t how it works in any industry. You don’t fail at a promotion then return to your old job. Also, you would be waving bye to both Nielsen and Richard if you did that. Either Allen is HC of the Saints next year, or he’s no longer contracted to the franchise. Hopefully the latter.
Is there a rule that says the HC can’t be the DC the next year? No. This would be one of the most unique situations we’ve seen in the NFL and the Saints front office will be flexible if they need to. If you’re DA you either accept that you’re better off focusing all of your time on the defense or get an ego and risk not having a job at all in 2023 🤷‍♂️ I’m willing to bet he would gladly return back to DC if we were able to bring back SP

Underhill expects Loomis to keep DA at least one more year, which I find maddening but probable. Forget about Payton coming back. He wouldn't have left in the first place if he wanted to still be in NOLA.

Please don’t let all the conspiracy folks around here make you think the Saints organization is the hated stepchild of the league. Goodell couldn’t care less about what the Saints do; good or bad. We aren’t living rent free in his head. All he wants from every franchise is that they keep the money pipeline flowing.

The problem with these theorists is that they believe every officiating screw up has a method to the madness. But these same folks live in a very small world and fail to see (or accept) that equality bad officiating happens across the board for & against EVERY team in the league. But they only take note when we are the victims of egregiously bad calls & no calls.

The NFL wants the human element to remain in the game. They always have. Of course they do need to be on the lookout for any official who may have a sportsbook app on his phone. Individual referees could be tempted to favor a team that would give them an advantage in the gambling world. Such things have happened before and are likely to happen again.

However it’s hard to imagine that most officials are willing to ruin such a good thing as their cushy NFL gig just for a shot that they won’t get caught being tied to a big payoff.

But the league (or Goodell himself) is not interested in promoting one franchise at the expense of another franchise. This would be especially true in regard to the Saints who were once raking in some of the highest ratings of any of the 32 teams. Our success in the TV market share was the single biggest reason the Saints were regularly being scheduled with 5 to 7 primetime nationwide broadcasts each year. It literally makes no sense to deliberately want to destroy your cash cow.

Do yourself a favor and read the fan sites of other losing teams each week. I promise you that you will find nearly the same number of threads discussing the ‘fixed calls’ and why the league hates their team so much.

Just don’t allow all these butthurt fans around here fool you into thinking that we are truly the NFL’s whipping boy.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond in a respectful manner. It was an offhanded comment because I’m frustrated and upset that we have just fallen from grace. It’s painful to watch the downward spiral. Again, thank you!

If and big if. Payton comes back, is there even an interview process since he’s still under contract or just an announcement? If announcement only, they could delay the DA firing beyond he Monday firing day.

I heard him and triplet say that on their last stream. I think at that point, even WWL goes in on Loomis. It's gonna be really hard to sell DA for another season. All the other teams with the same record or 1 win better play with way more energy than the Saints do. I see 1 more win on the schedule. We don't typically do well vs rookie qb's making their first start but I think its a toss up win between Failclowns and Browns, there is 1 win in there. We'll see if Carolina keeps up that energy, they may if they actually have a shot at winning the division. The Eagles? That is gonna be brutal.

You still have to do the Rooney Rule interviews/candidate.

I think the fanbase would be forgiving if this was a first time HC, even with the given expectations.
But everytime DA’s name comes up, 12-37 follows.
You can’t sell the next season even in a winnable NFCS with DA as HC.

Sadly it’s hard to know sometimes who really buys into all that conspiracy stuff. Yes, there is plenty of reason for frustration this year. I’m right there with you.

You are a favorite poster of mine. I’m glad you really understand. :9:

I assume Loomis was involved in dumping SVG from the Pels after 1 year. This seems like more of a disaster than that, but maybe not since DA seems to at least get along with everyone. Seeing how that has worked for the Pels gives me hope that Loomis would be willing to repeat that scenario with the Saints. I guess we'll see

I hope you’re right.

I think the Panthers might win the division with an interim coach after their HC was fired early in the season, which goes to show how pathetic we’ve been this season. They will probably crush us in the Dome, which will mark the lowest low for us in probably 16 seasons.
