Jeff Duncan on Sean Payton 2023 (1 Viewer)

I read the article and it doesn't really say anything. Payton and Brees aren't coming back---LET IT GO!! Payton will have much better options than the over the salary cap, no QB having Saints.

"One person close to Payton and familiar with his thinking believes a return to the Saints is possible "if things go sideways" in New Orleans. He went so far as to rank the Saints No. 1 on the list of teams Payton might coach in 2023 if he elects to return to coaching.

Add Payton and one of those QBs to the Saints roster, and suddenly 2023 looks more promising.

Bottom line: Some NFL owner is likely to pay Payton a small fortune to lead their team next season. And there’s no good reason why that team shouldn’t be the Saints."

It says a source close to SP said SP would be open to a return if things go sideways with DA (narrator: they already have) and the source ranked the saints as the number-1 most likely destination for SP to coach in 2023.

Felt almost like a trial balloon being floated by SP.

Payton is extremely demanding. Loomis will give him full power and Mrs. Benson gives him a blank check to do whatever he wants. Very few owners/GMs will do both. Maybe he realizes that.

Or maybe this ends with us getting Arizona’s 3rd round pick. Who knows anymore.

The only thing I could see is if Loomis gave SP push back on running with Taysom as QB and the "retiment" was a power play. Now Payton could come back next year and get exactly what he wants. That's really a lot of speculation on my part.
I don't believe he wants to come back here though

Now the real question becomes, you need a vacancy at head coach first, do you want the Saints losing out? Based off what Underhill and Triplet say, who I think are the two most connected to the Saints right now, the saints need to lose out in epic fashion for DA not to get a 2nd season.

Like lose the locker room obvious bad losses according to them.

If TB12 is on board, then I can see that happening
Oh Lord, please no.

If you want to see the New Orleans Saints turn into merely "The Tom Brady Show", that's what this would be. Look at Tampa - they have zero identity now other than "the team that Tom Brady plays for".

No thanks.

I can’t believe any Saints fan wouldn’t want Brady as the Saints QB after two years of Jameis, Taysom, Dalton, Siemien and Book.

The problem is that by the time Brady even has a chance to come here, he will be completely washed. Every time we try to scoop up a big name, they never pan out.
