Saints Jeff Duncan says, Saints are very interested in bidding for Xavien Howard. (2 Viewers)

If they sign him and intend to keep Latt and Williams that will be one expensive secondary!

I wouldn't want to lose Lattimore or Williams. But Ceedy will be due in a couple of years. What if Davenport balls out? That's another substantial contract. Then McCoy as well. Adding Howard sounds good, but if we have to let multiple players walk next year to fit his contract plus lose draft picks I would say no to it.

I'll be honest... I'd trade Lattimore for him. The long term contract and my feelings towards paying Lattimore makes this an easy choice.

Lattimore & Howard is nice,tho
Then, Tag Lattimore next year.

.
The thing about Howard is this isn’t his first time taking to social media to air his grievances about his contract. Who’s to say he doesn’t do that a year or two into his time here?

Indeed. The money has to come from somewhere, and Howard wants guaranteed money past his 30th birthday. I don’t know how smart it is to give a guy who hasn’t been on the team that kind of money after 30, but hey, I’m fine either way (it’s not my money).

A year or two is still having an elite CB for $11 million a season better than paying Lattimore $16 million to be elite 8 games of the season.

Howard is not happy bc he’s not the highest paid CB on his team. However, he SHOULD be. He’s 10 times better than Byron Jones. All the Dolphins have to do is just rework his contract and bump him up a little. It’s not like he hasn’t outplayed his contract so far. The guy has led the league in interceptions twice already. What has Byron done? It was basically a slap in Howard’s face for the Dolphins to sign Byron for that much money. Byron friggin Jones is making over $16 million a year. Yeah, that’s not a typo. He has done nothing in his career to warrant that kind of money. Now, is Howard being a bit petty over the difference of $1 million a year??? Probably, but if I’m the alpha male CB, who knows that he outplaying the CB on the opposite side, who gets to guard the #2 WR, and isn’t half the CB that he is, then he has a right to have a gripe.

I’m not saying that he isn’t better than Jones, I’m just saying this is the 2nd time (in 3 years) Howard has gone public about wanting a new contract.

I can see the Cowboys playing with that time bomb.

After front office got under the cap from being 100+ mill over just a few months ago… I’ll never question these guys when it comes to managing the books. Plus they could sign Howard to a new contract if they get him and lower his cap hit over the next couple years. I’m not concerned about the cap.

The question is how much are they willing to give up for Howard.

That is also a big factor. Besides who won’t be getting paid down the line, we also have to factor in, what are we willing to give up. I would give a 2nd, but not a 1st. Our first could just as well be a top 10 pick as much as a bottom 10 pick.
