Jeremy Fowler: Chase Young Open to Returning to the Saints (73 Viewers)

I am not opposed at all to bringing Young back, but it has to be at the right price. He still has upside, was healthy all year, and if someone can turn the light on so he plays hard every snap he can be a contributor on this team that is woefully short on talent. My guess, however, is that we will not be able to match the likely contract he will be offered by some cash heavy teams who can overpay and not get into cap hell!

If Adebo can come back 100% from his injury that will be huge for us, the rest are MEH, either way!
You're missing the boat on the issue. adebo may be the best talent but he's also going to have the hotter market and cb demands are hefty. the other pieces are affordable vets that won't command the monies and/or opportunities we can give.

did you see my repose to the other players? I said yes to them on cheap deals.
I am agreeing Adebo would be good to have back, he's going to cost $$ but he's basically our CB1 now with ML gone to Washington.

Young is such a weird player. He can completely dominate the tackle who is trying to block him, but then he’ll whiff or take the wrong angle to get to the QB. If almost sacks was a thing he’d be the king.

Said the exact same thing all season. The Almost Sack King.

It’s so odd…almost to the point where I have genuinely wondered if the guy was on the take at times. Like how could someone be so skilled like this but can hardly ever finish? Never seen anything like it before.

Why should any coach have to turn his light to the [on] position 🤔

If he truly had a motor and played every snap hard with his skill set; he would have led the Saints in sacks and tackles for loss this season.

He definitely wasn't worth $13M last season (In My Opinion) 😤

Adebo coming off a significant injury, if we get get him on a cheaper deal for sure, if he’s getting top corner money, nope. No more bad contracts.

You don't pay Adebo. The price will be too high. Who knows how he will be post injury? And he really wasn't that good to begin with. Roll with Taylor and Kool-Aid and draft a nickel guy. In regards to Young, did he impact any games this year? Not in my opinion and his price will be too high as well. Move on. Get the cap right.

What is the “upside”??
Honest question here. Has he not shown the entire world exactly what he is? Just a guy who will take your money and never live up to his hype or “upside”. That guy can kick rocks or go chop wood in Chicago with 🦌 boy

I don't really want him back at that number either, but I would take him back on some kind of deal and we have to keep in mind that there are a few void years on his contract so bringing him back would save a good bit of cap space. So there is probably a point where his cost would be a was at least for this year.

OTC and Spotrac value him at 11M and 14M, respectively. We need to find really good value somewhere and can't pay 3 guys 13M each to fill a DE rotation. Young won't sign for less than 11M. Post-June 1 release of Jordan saves 11M. I would pick the cheaper one for 2025 with Foskey and a cheap FA or Kpass as 3rd and 4th DE. If Young wants a multi-year deal, then it would to be very cap friendly.
