Jeremy Fowler: Chase Young Open to Returning to the Saints (41 Viewers)

OTC and Spotrac value him at 11M and 14M, respectively. We need to find really good value somewhere and can't pay 3 guys 13M each to fill a DE rotation. Young won't sign for less than 11M. Post-June 1 release of Jordan saves 11M. I would pick the cheaper one for 2025 with Foskey and a cheap FA or Kpass as 3rd and 4th DE. If Young wants a multi-year deal, then it would to be very cap friendly.
And incentive-laden...

Cam Jordan criticized the Dline coach for not working with players or coaching them. With that said, I’m willing to give Chase Young and pass on last season, and bring him back.

With luck, our next dline coach will be an actual coach, and not just a guy our head coach is getting out of the welfare line.

Rather put my money in resigning Adebo and adding young cheaper talent via the draft than paying Young to stay employed, which is all he is trying to do

I'm sure all the expiring contracts are 'Open to returning.'

Money is going to be the issue, it'll be tight.

We need Adebo signed. Real CBs are very hard to find.

I want to sign Chase Young to 3 year deal because if he has better coaching I think he will get better.

Because of his void years, singing him to a new contract actually helps us get under the salary cap and letting him go actually puts us further above the salary cap.
But the advantage to him signing elsewhere is we get a comp pick

I think the Saints need to change lot of players, they need young talent and affordable options.
You can’t offer big contracts to average players or players that past their prime.

Translation: "no team is showing interest".

I do know these conversations take place early, but I doubt the entire league is being canvassed at this early of a stage…the legal tampering period doesn’t open for more than a month.

I thought Young was a free agent.

I really tried giving Chase Young the benefit of the doubt. He takes plays off...wtf

I can't get with that at ALL...I look at Trey Hendrickson and he doesn't takes plays off...and for that alone you can't even mention these two guys in the same sentence 🤔
I wonder what his issue is, could the right coach get him to consistently play to his talent level?

I've been critical of Young, but his talent can't be denied. It's there. That article from Cam about the coaching is very telling of how guys were not used or coached correctly. Rizzis removing Grantham and switching to Young made a difference. I'm willing to see what the next system/coaches can get out of Young.

If the decision is between Young and Adebo, it's Young all day. Who knows what Adebo will be like coming back from that injury.
