Because he's not a forty something year old fan who grew up watching football in the 80s and still clings to what was allowed 5 decades ago. He has no frame of reference for why it feels wrong to us.
Sure, but even college CBs and young NFL CBs don't often choose #14. There are probably exceptions that I just didn't notice but I can't think of any. Even Ingram when he wore #14 said that it felt weird. And he wore #1 at Alabama.
But, maybe he's one of those guys that wants to choose an odd number and make it their own. Kind of like how AK kept #41.
