I would...I feel like the game has passed him by.Just a random question… would anyone have a problem with it? The Saints have brought people in to “help” then give them a coaching spot later on. Also keep in mind, Pete didn’t want the OC job to begin with.
Even if we did, I don't think he would accept a coordinator job. Big names rarely accept anything lower than their previous job.Just a random question… would anyone have a problem with it? That was my first thought but with how his exit from the NFL was. I can see him using this position as a way back in. Just like that Miami coach that sued the NFL too(I’m forgetting his name at the moment)Even if we did, I don't think he would accept a coordinator job. Brian Flores...but he had only 2 years of head coach experience. John had multiple years and a ring on his resume. But don't know his mindset. Never know. That was my first thought but with how his exit from the NFL was. I can see him using this position as a way back in. Not a rumor...he didn't want to be OC, we interviewed Jay Gruden for the "vacant" job last offseason. Pete wanted to fade back to the backshop and ride out his time:Rumor has it that Pete C was on the fence about being the OC. If Pete enjoys more of the background work and preparation vs the playcalling, and hiring someone like Gruden would allow him to go back to working in the shadows, I'd be for it.
And you see how stale the offense was last year, Pete is not an innovative mind and calling the plays designed by one is why he never got the call to coordinate any other team and why when the innovative mind left the building so did the creativity on offense, Gruden is here to inject some ideas and concepts as an unemployed innovative mind to help Pete with play designs and concepts. Not a rumor...he didn't want to be OC, we interviewed Jay Gruden for the "vacant" job last offseason.
