Jonathan Vilma Arrested - Confirmed (2 Viewers)

i dont know about you but i dont see a conversation on the topic at hand here...

oh, and saint jeremy.. it isn't called HOT Lanta for not being a known hotspot.. Look at all the songs that have tribute to atlanta,

And here I thought it was because it gets HOT as Hades here...

C'mon, this place is boring as hell (I'm not complaining, I like boring). Nothing goes on here. They closed most of the bars in Buckhead. And there hasn't been a shooting outside a bar in like, years I think......

Someone should change the title of this thread, lock it down or move it to EE. There are about a dozen posts in this thread that deal with the OP's title and post - the rest are general chit chat about other subject matters hardly related to JV.

No. That's just stupid. Are you going to lose respect for everyone who has ever made a mistake? If he had done it on purpose, then yes. But he didn't. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

I didn't lose respect because of Vima getting arrested. I still liked Rickey Williams when he drove over 100mph way back when but he didn't give the cops a hard time.
I lost repect because how he got arrested and why would a guy who is deemed as being a good smart guy in the NFL do something like this. My problem is his arrogance for questioning the officers for telling him to get out of the car.

NYC - perhaps he was scared of the cops because he thought they were profiling and that he didn't think he ran the red light. I'd like to see the video from the police cruiser, or his voice recording to find out how exactly he "resisted arrest"...

Personally if I felt I was being racially profiled I may question getting out of the car too. I'm not saying he was, but that's one possible excuse...

so anyway to get this thread back on track and away from assumptions of character - has anyone heard any updates to what happened?

Wow. Chill out people. Vilma broke the law and got hot headed when he got caught. Lost his temper and went to jail for probably 10 minutes.

He did not kill a lady while drunk..leonard little.
He did not slam a strippers head on a stage and have some kind of connection with a shooting. pac
He did not have connections with killing 2 guys. ray lewis
He did not spit on a woman and push her to the ground. Larry. bad but not too bad.

Point is, the man got in trouble and has paid his price.

Dont forget Plax shooting himself in a club, Michael Irvin goin Edward Sicssor Hands on a team mate in the locker room, Lawrence Phillips beating up and stalking women, Cecil "the disel" stalking women, and Eugene Robinson soliciting an undercover cop for oral relations the night before the superbowl.

Without knowing how the officers were treating him, how do you know it was arrogance? Let's be honest, cops have about the same chance as being calm and respectful as they do being angry and disrespectful. I just think it's funny to hear several people say they lost respect for Vilma when they don't know exactly what happened, only vague details. What if it comes out that the officer was in the wrong as far as the arrest is concerned? Would you regain your respect for Vilma? Or is the act of daring to question a cop, no matter what they do, ground for immediate lost of respect? Let it be made clear I do not think the cop has done anything wrong, but this black-and-white perspective just seems out of whack. Is it smart to question a cop? No. But do a lot of them DESERVE to be questioned? You betcha.

Maybe he was nerveous and not sure that the police officer was actually a police officer....

From wwl:

Frankel said, a day after the arrest, Vilma was driving to the airport when he was pulled over by an unmarked vehicle.

The arresting officer, according to Frankel, also was in plain clothes. He said Vilma has spoken with Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis and plans on contacting NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday.

Maybe he was nerveous and not sure that the police officer was actually a police officer....

And if that article is true, that makes his questioning completely legitimate and reasonable, wouldn't you say? And with Sean Taylor being killed in Miami and other players being robbed (which is why Plaxico supposedly started carrying a gun), would YOU just jump right out your car for an unmarked car as a star athlete?

:plus-un2: almost all of them should be questioned. Most of them will twist the truth just to get the arrest under their belt.

I take offense to NPs6724's earlier post about individuals in law enforcement not being smart or being able to do anything else. That could not be farther from the truth. I hope if you ever need assistance from an officer, s/he has not read this thread.

Just for the record, I will wait until all the facts come out. I would be reluctant to exit my vehicle if a plainclothesed officer in an unmarked car pulled me over in Florida (Ted Bundy anyone).

This thread (and its accompanying side-topics) is quickly approacing the quantitative and qualitative irrelevance of a Walter Thomas thread.

More posts. We can break the record. We have the technology. We have the fortitude.

I, for one, am reaady to take it to the diapers for this noble cause.

I never claimed they weren't smart. Most of them lack an education higher than high school, which is true in most cases.

And really, your last statement says more about cops than I ever could. According to you, an officer wouldn't assist me because they didn't like my stance? And this is supposed to change how I think about them? :jpshakehead:
