Justin Fields, I'd roll the dice (9 Viewers)

Yes, and unfortunately that does matter. The thought that we aren't paying for our past sins (because Mickey is a cap wizard) is self delusion. I'm not sold on Rattler, but at least for next season he would be a price conscious place holder (who might just perform well) and then you could re-address the position in 2026.
That's exactly where I am. The next year or 2 will most likely be a wash anyway so let's see what we have in Rattler while he is still on a rookie contract. Between now and then I am not opposed to drafting a possible future starter...if the right one falls in our lap. Otherwise let's build up the interior lines and in 2 years we will have a stud in Rattler...or draft/promote our starter.

Fields’ completion percentage, interception percentage, and quarterback rating AND sacks taken per atttempt have improved each of his four seasons in the league. All while his yards per attempt has remained steady.

Fields has been improving as an NFL passer, steadily and surely. I would bet he’s still not reached his peak

Fields just took some time to develop. He’s not there yet, but he will be. And he’ll be great for a long time

If by some chance he was successful, then his price tag would be 35 million or more. That's just not the direction the Saints need to go. Rattler or a draft pick while the cap is being cleaned up.

Just throwing this out there, flame if you must.

Would acquiring Trey Lance be a good move? Any potential? I don't follow him much, but do recall he may have had some flash in SF.

I’m all for the former first round picks that may just need to find the right place, but I’m afraid Trey is likely at the end of the road. Doesn’t appear the kid can play at this level.

Thanks. So pass on Lance.

Just looking at backups who were highly rated coming out of college who have been relegated to backup roles vs. drafting a fresh out of college QB this year.

I’m just a guy on his couch watching the Sopranos and talking on a message board while my kids are at school, not someone doing deep dives watching film, so take my word with a grain of salt. lol

I said the same about Baker while he was in Carolina and look how that turned out.

It’s all a crapshoot. Lance, from what I have seen though, looks BAD.

Totally get that. Same, but I'm watching Breaking Bad, lol.

I've not seen much from Lance. Seemed like a lot of SF fans thought he was the future several years ago.

Maybe we scoop up Dart if he has the potential to build around.

I have my eye on Fields and the Milroe kid from Bama. What’s unique about them is that they both have a sort of “Taysom Hill usage”-type floor. Either you strike gold and have the QB of the future, or you have a guy that can do some unique things on the field in other ways.

You’re watching my favorite show of all-time by the way. Don’t forget about the El Camino sequel movie, and the Better Call Saul prequel series.

Enjoy!

I've watched both actually, great spin-offs. I wish they'd bring more into the fold.

Milroe would be interesting. I've seen many say he's not NFL caliber, but no one knows for sure until he takes NFL snaps.

I just don't see it with Fields like a lot of you guys. Anyway, I think he stays with Pittsburgh. I keep hearing media say the Steelers will likely go with him over Wilson, but who knows?
Wow! I guess I really have lost touch with NFL football. I've been so disgruntled by the state of the NFL, I only watch Saints games now. I thought Fields was Chicago's franchise QB and Kenny Pickett was Pittsburgh's.
