Justin Fields, I'd roll the dice (5 Viewers)

Fields could help replace some of the juice we will be missing with Taysom being out/released. Plus we are built to run the ball, he would help the run game.
Fields should drop the QB part of his description and go 100% commitment to being a running back---wont do it, even back up QB $$ is better than RB

In retrospect, it was kind of a lateral move for the Steelers, except that Fields had put the ball on the carpet six times in six starts. Wilson fumbled five times in 11 starts.

It's true that Fields had only thrown five TDs through his six starts ... but he also rushed for five TDs, as well. That meant that Fields accounted for 10 TDs in six games -- 1.67 per game. To be fair to both Wilson and Fields, that is just barely about league average (maybe a bit below). Wilson himself had 18 TDs in 11 starts (1.64 per game), so they were almost identical on that particular stat.

It was kind of a weird season for Steelers' QBs. Fields started the season's first six games, starting off 3-0 but then losing two straight games by field goals (@ IND, vs DAL). The next game, Fields and the Steeler drub the Raiders on the road by 19. Tomlin then makes the switch to Wilson (the draft-pick motive you mentioned). Wilson starts off like a house afire, going 4-0 including nip-tuck wins at Washington and hosting Baltimore. Wilson goes 6-1 over his first seven starts, then the bottom drops out -- the Steelers lose their last four plus their playoff game without scoring over 17 points in any contest. Three of Wilson's five fumbles came during the season-ending slide.
Fields looked mid in every game he played in, Wilson looked great for five games before the offense took a step back. It was obvious who gave the Steelers the better chance to win. There's also a big difference in losing to the Colts and Cowboys (Fields) vs Ravens, Chiefs and Eagles (Wilson). The last 5 games of Pittsburgs schedule was brutal.

I'm contemplating 2 scenarios as new HC:

1. Keep Carr for at least 1 yr AND draft Jalen Milroe (1st or 2nd if you believe he falls).

OR

2. Cut bait with Carr and target Fields OR (drumrolllllllllll) Malik Willis.

The dude whose legs are his only good asset will be better when he's older lol
i dont agree with that. I believe in a Kellen Moore type offensive that his arm talent can improve and eventually equal his leg talent. It is true that over time the player loses his legs first. But im talking about short term, not 12 years from now. Look at Bryce Young at Carolina, its taken him 3 years to finally develop, i see Justin Fields the same way. But justin Fields can be better because hes got better scrambling ability.

Bryce Young has only been in the league 2 years and he showed signs of development in his second year. Fields has played four years and still hasn't shown growth. He got benched for a guy whose old team paid $40M to trade him lol

The graveyard of the league is littered with guys with leg and arm talent. The trait they lack is between the ears and that's what Fields problem is.

my bad 2 years, seems like 3. The Saints are always in the position of having to shop for their most valuable position from the discount bin.

He has looked mid. That's where I think Kellen's coaching helps him in becoming a better QB or with just good play calling.

If he can run like he did in Chicago and be a game manager type QB, we will compete for the division.

Whatever Kellen wants give it to him. I'm pretty sure the most likely is to end the QB controversies, start Rattler and make a decision on his guy next year when the draft/FA/our cap will make all make better options realistic. I don't like it but year 1 seems like a mulligan no matter what.
