Keeping Kubiak (Merged) (1 Viewer)

So, this has been on my mind since about midway through the 2nd Quarter yesterday....

This is essentially the same offensive personnel from last year that was completely inconsistent and even overly inept at times last year. Nothing seemd to work consistently last year on offense... and all we really added was a rookie OT to that group.

All of a sudden... we are 40 points in a box on offense and we look like a damn avalanche pouring down a mountain...

Assuming that this will not be 100% sustainable for 15 more games, but also assuming this is no fluke... and we maintain a really good offense and win games along the way... The only logical reason for this crazy metamorphosis.... Is the addition of Klint Kubiak as OC... Nothing else... Just that addition.

While this is great for us this year... If this continues... (And I'm already hearing rumblings of this everywhere).... We may be a victim of his success by the end of this season... and Lose him to a HC starved team looking for young stud OC to make their HC.

We must find a way not to let this man out of the building after one season, and get poached because of the success he brings to the team...

It's also a double edge sword... Because my first thought is just make him our HC... Problem there, DA will also get credit for a great season... and the turnaround... and hiring Kubiak.... So (rightfully) they can't replace DA with Kubiak to keep him.

I know this is looking way ahead... but man... I just have this thorn in my brain that keeps saying... we are going to lose him after the season, and be right back where we were again in 2025.

Someone give a reason to believe that we won't lose Kubiak after this season... please.

There is no way to "keep someone in the building." If he gets hired, he gets hired. Period. A salary increase *may* keep in on board for another season, but it will happen at some point. Nature of the coaching carousel.

I was just discussing this with a co-worker.
From my viewpoint, I see one big difference: we're being aggressive.
We're not taking what the defense gives us. We're taking it.

Conversely, LSU has changed OC's and offensive philosophy.
Much less aggressive style and I think it shows.

Has there ever been a circumstance where a Coordinator that transformed a team in a season.... not been poached? If so, was it because of huge amounts of money....? I want to know if there is a realistic chance to retain him if this offensive dominance continues the whole year.

You could make the argument that maybe it's Derek Carr more than Kubiak. I wouldn't, but you could make that argument. This is actually the 3rd straight game scoring 40+ points going back to last year. The Saints were playing pretty well at the end of last year, and had they made the playoffs, I think that they would have gotten past the first round.

I don't think Klint is one and done. He'll atleast get us a 2nd season. Maybe a 3rd.

That's the nature of the league.

I mean... I hope not... But we are 2 games in, and I am already hearing rumblings from guys' opinions I respect that.... Some of these teams with Young QBs and struggling offenses, are going to be throwing the bank at him this offseason should he continue to make the Saints offense look like a Juggernaut.
