Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Moore has begun working on assembling staff; Schefter: “Moore is gonna be Saints coach barring a setback” (16 Viewers)

There’s controversial and then there’s absurd. Clearly Hurts is one of the better QBs in the league. Is he elite and in the same bracket as Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc? No but he’s definitely not in the middle either.

And those 4 Saints players you’ve listed aren’t remotely similar to the Dallas ones, so I highly doubt Moore sees us like them in any way. Comparing Shaheed to Gallup and Kamara to Elliott particularly makes no sense, they’re nothing alike. Also, given it’s 2024 and not 2016, Dak is clearly a level above Carr.
Hurts in 23 which is the yr I mentioned had a QBR of 59.9 which was 13th . That with the best OL and a top 5-7 WR corps in the league, that's pretty close to the middle. This yr with that same best OL and same top 7 WR corp and adding the best RB in the league to take the pressure off him he made it up to 62.7 which was good enough for 8th.

While Elliot and AK have a bit different styles they both have fairly similar production. . In 21 the yr Moore had the #1 offense Elliot had about 1300 total yds 10 TDs in 17 games . AK this yr had 1500 total yds and 6 TDs. AND AK has less wear and tear on him. I think KM will see AK as the weapon he saw in Elliot in 21

Again while Gallup is a bit bigger than Shaheed their production especially in the last few yrs had been comparable. Gallup is bigger , Shaheed is faster and more of a deep threat.

Stat wise Dak and Carr are pretty comparable , but look at what Dak had around him. a very good OL Elliot before he went downhill and Pollard . Lamb, Gallup , Cooks, and a good TE in Schultz

While the players are different they are comparable in production

This link is a day late and a dollar short. Go back and see the prior discussion in this thread with links about this topic. But here is a quick and dirty summary:

Dianna Russini stated that she heard "scuttlebutt" that Moore was having second thoughts because he had problems with Saints QB room. EVERYBODY took that original Russini tweet and ran with it. In no time flat Russini then said that Moore had rethought about the job and could work with the QB room afterall.

Much, much ado about nothing. Imo, not even true, just typical Russini rumor mongering.
Ok, I wasn’t going through all of these 30 pages. Thanks

I don't think you understand journalism and the concept of getting the scoop. She has the credentials to be able to get this story. She described the thought process behind Moore and the Saints job. She said that he had concerns about the QB position (could/should be true) and that Moore worked through it because he knew he would have a period to work that out. That is not outlandish at all and to call her out as someone that started a rumor to get click is off base.

Now if you want to take issue with Dov Kleiman's "Eagles OC Kellen Moore may not want the #Saints....." tweet, I can support that. I don't think it was a good characterization of what Russini said.
She reported a rumor that no one else reported . And then tweeted basically that he was ok with it hrs after everyone had reposted what she said and cited her for it ( along with embellishing on their own) Do you think that she didn't think that would get her a lot of attention and clicks?

Exactly. Hence the Rizzi watch. If he takes a job somewhere else, he's been told that they have made a decision and it's not him. As long as he hasn't taken a job somewhere else, the HC job is still undecided.
Yup and if he pulls himself out of consideration it sends the signal that we have already offered the job. Unlike MM and Brady pulling out do to the optics

SP didn't have to start with a rookie QB. He was able to find a QB to run his offense, a castoff from SD who moved on to their shiny new QB. SP needed DB for his offense.

Fast forward to 2025, the game has changed and Moore is the modern offense OC. Fields was cast aside for a new shiny QB by Chicago. Moore looks to favor mobile QBs over drop back guys. He's still really young and Moore can build an offense around him.

Starting a rebuild without having to spend draft capital on a QB gives the rebuild an instant head start.
But does he favor a Hurts type QB ? He has never had to draft a QB. Dak and Hurts were already there, and Dak is more mobile than Carr but he's not a guy that beats you with his legs.

I'm curious to why people are looking to drafting another QB. Doesn't Rattler play the role of Hurts?? Much easier to run the read option with him than obviously Carr or even Heaner.

I like how Rattler is getting written off when he did get playing time we had nobody on offense to help him..or even a line to protect.
Hurts is a much better runner than SR.

Herbert is mobile as well, but bigger than Dak and Hurts. Hurts is more of a runner than the other two.

It's why I would look at Fields as an option. He's more mobile than Dak and Herbert, but not as much of a runner as Hurts. He's an FA, young and requires no draft capital.

Thanks. Fields is a FA and should only get a prove ot deal like Darnold and Baker got since he's in a similar situation.

They say when you need a QB you have to look everywhere. A quick look at Moore's offenses shows that he's only worked with mobile (Dak/Herbert) and a running QB (Hurts) so it would make sense that he wants and is comfortable with a mobile QB. Fields is taller 6'3" than Hurts and Dak, but not as tall as Herbert. He's also 225-230lbs so he's big and sturdy. Mentioned in another thread a poster said our QB should be at least 6'2" and 225lbs, I believe that as well so they can hold up through the season. Fields fits that description. He he also has good arm talent, bonus. He has experience at the highest level in college and experience with adversity in the NFL. He got the benefit of sitting behind Russ which allowed him to develop without getting beat to hell.

Now, to answer the question of why he'd want to come to New Orleans. Moore can point to the Cowboys, Chargers and Eagles to show that he can build an offense around a QB and his strengths. Fields should jump to that opportunity.

People will be like what about Rattler, well he's still young. Having a QB1 and QB2 with similar skillsets and only a year and a half about in age, but years apart in NFL experience isn't a bad thing. We are at a 17 game season now and will soon be at at 18 game season. Having an inexpensive QB2 who can keep the offense going should their be an injury is the smart thing to do.
I don't think Herbert is mobile at all, maybe Dak to some extent Hefbert is a drop back QB. Dak is a bit more than DC.

Do you even know who she is? She's a sports reporter. She was at ESPN for 10 years and now one of the top people at The Athletic. She's not some random podcaster with no connections. You're calling it a rumor, but that doesn't make it so. It makes you look foolish to call every report you don't like a rumor.

He's had over 300 yards rushing twice on his career and averages 262 yards a season rushing. He might be a prototypical QB, but he can run.

Dak has also had 2 seasons with over 300 yards rushing and only average 270 yards per season.

If a new coach isn’t worried about the qb room, we have a lot of disappointment ahead. Right now the team has an older qb that is oft injured and nothing behind him unless you count Taysom who is also injured a good bit.
Moore shouldn't be worried about our QB room any more than Carroll is in LV, or Shott is in Dallas , or Glenn is in NY. All Coen has going for Trevor is that he is young. Vrabel has Maye but he's unproven and McDaniels track record with anyone other than Brady is not good. The new HC that would have the least worries QB worries is Johnson and Williams didn't light the world on fire last yr

Chances are we are not cutting DC this yr, we would have to restructure most of the whole team and hold on to players way past their prime. So that gives Moore a vet QB to work with for a yr or 2. And we shed some older players and sign a few younger FAs along with draft well and wait for the right QB to go after

Scuttlebutt definition= Rumor; Gossip. Did she not say scuttlebutt more than once ???

So, Russini in an attempt to get clicks reports on her podcast that she heard a rumor that Moore had some trepidations with our QB room , and then said that he was ok with it. Then all these other internet reporters cite her podcast and repost this RUMOR and now you are convinced that Moore wants to move on from Carr. Is that correct?
She’s an NFL insider with connections. She’s not risking her career and reputation for petty clicks and views.

She makes a salary and I doubt she gets paid by the click. It’s not like she’s a clickbait writer from Bleacher Report.

I’ll trust her credibility over yours.
