That doesn't really explain the issues with no being able to run the ball against a giants DL with UDFAs starting while you have your entire starting OL and #1 RB healthy. Yes, you don't have the QB power plays with Hill hurt, but you still should be able to run the ball and it looked like it was mostly the play calling and refusal to use Miller that was stopping them.

And having to adjust week to week and in game due to injury and/or opponent is kind of a major part of what NFL OCs do.
Actually it does somewhat. The defense can cheat a bit towards the LOS and it was clear they didn't really respect the Saints receivers. If the WRs are healthy and performing well, the defense can't do that much anymore.

It's his first season. They started off hot and the injuries piled up and with the revolving door never really let up. I think he should get at least one more season. Coaches grow in their careers like players do. I bet KK will be better next season than this season.

That said, it really all depends on the HC situation. With a new coach, it's quite possible the new coach will want someone else running the offense. That said, I'm sure KK will get an interview and he'll be coaching somewhere if not with us.

I'd be more willing to give him another year if this was't more or less the same thing he did in Minnesota when he was the OC there. I don't think he's a bad OC and maybe he gets better, but I'd rather give someone else a shot than hope that he improves or that it was just the lack of talent. I think he designed a good system, but his play calling is very questionable. He could just be a Pete Carmichael type that never quite gets the knack for play calling consistently but has a few very good games.

I also really question his play calling after the Demario Davis interceptions. We ran almost no time off the clock and gave the Giants plenty of time to go down the field an kick a FG or score a TD. It might have cost of the game if not for amazing effort by Breese.

Anyway, I just hope they let the next HC have free reign in picking the next OC and I hope we can get a HC who is already a good OC.

But the few things we do have on offense are MVS who can get deep, a QB who throws a really good deep ball, and the starting OL back. If they were stacking the line or cheating up to stop the run they should have tried more deep balls to MVS to keep them honest even if they were not completed. Instead we ran a lot of stretch plays and end arounds that were resulting in lost yards and played right into the Giants strategy.

And even if they were cheating up or stacking the box, 2.8 YPC against a defense that bad at stopping the run is pretty bad.

KK has only ever succeeded so far as a passing game coordinator. He took OC with the Vikings. Then he went to Denver where he was stripped of play calling. He then went to being a passing game coordinator for the niners after. Now he's OC here, and I'm not seeing the growth we all anticipated in his time with the niners. His play calling seems eerily familiar to when he was OC with the Vikings which was a middle of the pack offense. Vikings decided not to retain him when they released Mike Zimmer as Head Coach.

And for those of you blaming "Talent", with the Vikings he had the following :

QBKirk Cousins*33916372 for 561, 4,221 yards, 33 td, 7 int, & 29 rushes for 115 yards and 1 td
RBDalvin Cook*26413249 rushes for 1,159 yards, 6 td, & 34 catches for 224 yards and 0 td
FBC.J. Ham28487 rushes for 34 yards, 0 td, & 17 catches for 125 yards and 0 td
WRJustin Jefferson*22117108 catches for 1,616 yards, 10 td, & 6 rushes for 14 yards and 0 td
WRAdam Thielen3171367 catches for 726 yards, 10 td, & 1 rush for 2 yards and 0 td
TETyler Conklin2631561 catches for 593 yards, 3 td
LTChristian Darrisaw22Rook103 fumbles recovered

CGarrett Bradbury26213
RGOli Udoh24216

If I'm being honest here, with that offensive talent, anything less than a top 10 offense is a crime (it was 14th). It was also the 24th scoring offense in the league (thats really bad given that roster). And know, their defense was really bad that year, so these stats are with an offense that was constantly playing catchup every week.

We can't to ever field an offense of all-team talent. So if he can't crack a top 10 offense with that level of talent while playing catchup week in and week out (think 2008 saints), then I don't really have the confidence that he will field a top 10 offense with less talent.

At the start of the season people were afraid to lose him after 1 season

I'm wondering if because he's been dealing with injuries, he was on a snap count. Or there are other considerations. Just seems like more to the story for him to be that limited.

As for the starting OL being back, maybe they were rusty or still playing at less than 100%. They didn't look good. But I'm just hoping it was an off week and they get it together this week. The offense is gonna need to score against the Commanders.

All possible. I guess I just don't see KK as having it as a play caller. I think he's solid and better than Pete, but he seems to sometimes struggle once he is off script and in situational play calling.

I guess I'd be more forgiving about the injuries if it didn't look like things work great when he is on the script but get worse afterward. If it was all about the injuries, I wouldn't expect them to look good when he's calling plays from the script, but they usually do.

That being said, I do like the Shanahan/Kubiak system so I hope we stay in the family with whoever is the OC, but I would kind of like to see the McVay tree since I just think it's more exciting football. But, I'd be happy with any offense that works.

Draft all the Taysom Hilly players next year.

Tyler Warren
Harold Fanin JR
Jalen Milroe in the third lol and make him play RB/FB/WR/gadget QB

Do it and don’t look back 🤩
We don't need a Hill type if we can get a great TE.

I'm not sold on KK either. But to be fair, several times a game Carr has wide open people to throw to and doesn't. If Carr makes those throws, and the offense moves, the offense looks better.

And its not hard to recall that Purdy was making those throws when KK was play calling the niners.

I feel we overrate Carr in the same manner (but opposite) way we underrated Red Rocket.
Who are these receivers?

Offense was running fine with Olave, Shaheed and a healthy offensive line, when those bodies started dropping so did the offense.
It could also be argued they got hurt because of the injured OL. They tried to hard to make tough catches....because they're not elite.

Signed a new OC and didn't bring in any new players for him to work with.

I would be curious to see what he could do with a little deeper and less injury prone roster.

The offense wa terrible against the 29th ranked run defense and most healthy Oline all yaer. Kubiak has some Spainnin' to do....
Do you realize 80% of the time the reason a play in not successful is because of EXECUTION???? AND that's the 1st time since the 2nd game they have played together. OL are not like DLs they play as a unit
