Loomis news conference. Most important thing he said, imo (2 Viewers)

I think Payton is going to gun for Belichick level franchise control. No need to bring Ireland along for that. Arizona has it set up for Payton to come in a have the whole enchilada.
They've interviewed at least one guy for their vacant GM position already.

People are writing off DA too soon imo. Its funny we went through many seasons like the last one with Sean Payton but the offense was amazing and the defense was god awful which I guess made it more palatable. This year was the reverse the defense was good and the offense stunk. The offense struggled the same way it struggled when Payton was here. Predictable, predictable, predictable. I know the fans quit on DA but it was pretty obvious the guys in the locker room didn't. This team needs a complete overhaul to the offensive scheme and an upgrade from Andy Dalton.

Wouldn’t take much notice of that, he’s saying what you’d expect him to say. He’s not going to say anything else.

It’s a pretty simple trade anyway, Payton will pick his team and Loomis will negotiate something in the region of a first (not in the top 10) and a third.
So what if the team Payton wants to coach is a team who's 1st round pick is in the top 10, so what happens then? It's actually not that simple. You, like several other posters here, think you've got it all figure out and you keep pushing this narrative that there's no way the Saints will land a high 1st. You don't know that.

I fear that we will get our wish that Payton will take Pete and the next OC of your New Orleans Saints will be….Doug Marrone. OL coaches make terrible OCs because they think that only bad things happen when you pass.

Head in the sand. Another year of mediocrity. Hard to get enthused about next year, knowing DA is back
Exactly. I think any objective person can see DA is not head coach material. Changing the OC or getting another QB will make a minimal difference. This team lost focus and discipline under DA. Playing tight late in games gave this team a loser mentality. Loomis is making a terrible, though predictable, decision in the name of "stability" not winning. As you say above, expect more mediocrity. Definitely on the fence about renewing season tickets. If prices are raised this year, that will seal the deal for me. Then let's see how fast that waiting list evaporates.

This was the best part!! Sean get your own staff lol

The problem is the Saints staff management still leaves them wide open to get hit hard by Payton or any other team that comes sniffing around.

Kris Richard and Ryan Nielsen are co-DCs. The whole reason they were named co-DCs was to increase their paycheck and try to block other teams from calling, but we all know this is Allen's defense. If either one of them gets an interview to be an actual DC, Loomis is going to look really bad if he blocks it and it will be tough to get any promising young position coaches and assistants to come here.

Ireland is an Assistant GM.

Harley is Vice President of Football Administration.

Both Ireland and Harley can and should get opportunities for promotions.

Loomis can say what he wants, but blocking anyone from trying to prove themselves on "their own" is just going to continue to catapult this team back to the 70s.

We're writing him off because he's already failed before. This isn't a too soon situation. It was a gift wrapped playoff caliber team that he knew the ins and outs of. It lacked a franchise QB but it had 2 QB's Payton went 5-2 with and 4-1 with.

He completely mishandled the 5-2 QB to the point where I'm sure the relationship is broken despite him being a leader in the locker room. He moved the 4-1 QB to TE despite him having under 40 career catches. He goes with a backup journeyman over both and loses the season with him in one of the lowest scoring offenses in the 2nd half of the season.

His game management has been epically abysmal and cost us a playoff spot in a terrible division. He's the one that wants to go conservative on offense, not Carmichael. He's the one that wanted Dalton. We can improve on Carmichael and get a new QB but at the end of the day it's still dressing up a pig. Allen is an ultra conservative coach, it'll take a complete makeover of his coaching style for an explosive offense to be in place here because it simply doesn't mesh with the kind of team he wants.
