LSU still 2 in polls (2 Viewers)

I was thinking the same thing. OU and LSU are both very identical to the teams they were in 03.

OU has Sam Bradford (Jason White) throwing to Malcolm Kelly (Mark Clayton) with a solid group of runningbacks to take some of the pressure off. And just like 03 they have a very good defense with DeMarcus Granger looking like a young Tommie Harris and Curtis Lofton playing like Teddy Lehman. Not sure who their Derrick Strait is though I know Nic Harris hits like Roy Williams

Then theres LSU. Matt Flynn (Matt Mauck) throwing to Early Doucet (Michael Clayton) with Brandon LaFell (Devery Henderson) having a breakout year and a great stable of running backs in Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, and Jacob Hester (Justin Vincent, Alley Broussard, and Joseph Addai). The defense led by All-American Glenn Dorsey (Chad Lavalais) and future 1st rounder Tyson Jackson (Marcus Spears) are the best in the nation. Only thing is we are much stronger at both the LB and DB positions than in 03.

Looks about right to me

I would say that the biggest difference with this team to the 03 team is Flynn. I think he's a better overall QB then Mauck, both guys could run and were quick(I think Flynn is quicker) and were leaders but the difference is Flynn is a much better, more polished passer. Yes it's only his third start but he's going to get better as the season goes on. I also think this offense has the potential to be way better then 03, only time will tell but that's the way I see it...

All I know is the BCS game is in New Orleans and it would be like a home game for LSU, nothing but a sea of Purple and Gold.

There really is something different about the team this year. I didn't think Flynn was the man for the job but now I can see he is clearly the leader of this team and has the confidence and the talent to bring us back to the Sugar Bowl. I said before the season that this LSU squad is the most talented team college football has seen in years and the talent is really starting to show. I can see 5 first rounders from LSU this year

Glenn Dorsey (Top 5)
Tyson Jackson (Top Ten)
Early Doucet (2nd reciever taken if DeSean Jackson comes out)
Ali Highsmith (Late 1st)
Craig Steltz (Late 1st)

Depends on your definition of years. The back to back Miami classes in the middle of this decade could easily claim to be more talented...and I would have to agree.

I was at the last one in 2003 and yes, it was a sea of Purple and Gold....a truly awesome sight...:worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

Second best game I've been to, ever...topped only by the Saints MNF game last year. I feel blessed to have been in attendance at both of them!

Well, that is the team that I think LSU rivals and it was actually in 01 and 02 FYI. There are many future first round picks on LSU's current roster though. Other than the ones I mentioned there's Ciron Black, Herman Johnson, Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Brandon LaFell, Ryan Perrilloux and many others who will vie to be 1st round picks

Also look at the last few years on the impact of LSU players in the NFL. Domanick Davis was rookie of the year a while back, Michael Clayton almost won it the next year, Joseph Addai was a rookie sensation and helped the Colts win the Superbowl, then last year 4 1st rounders, NFL teams are going to be looking at LSU players hard and their draft stock will go up. I won't say they are better than Miami but I believe they are more talented simply because they play in the SEC and still dominate.

We'll see though, 01 Miami was one hell of a team

The freshman Terrance Tolliver is going to be a player as well, the kid moves so well and graceful and he's only a true freshman, kid is going to be something else, Imagine when Perriloux is throwing to him in the next coulpe years....

I don't remember what year it was, but the best LSU offense this decade was run by neither Russell, Flynn or Mauck. When Rohan Davey hit his stride late in the season they went to the Sugar Bowl and whacked Illinois, LSU could have beaten any team in the country.

Josh Reed was uncoverable. I can't believe he hasn't done more in the NFL.

Being #2 in the polls with the current system in place isn't a bad thing. Go 12-0 as the #2 and you are still going to be playing in the BC$ "National Championship" game.

Q: What's the difference between #1 and #2 in mid-September?
A: Not a dam thing

Q: What's the difference between #1 and #2 after the championship games in December?
A: Not a dam thing

Both will still be playing each other.

- I'm as giddy as a little schoolgirl just thinking about it...

Shoot, I said next couple years but we'll see it as early as next year, man I can't wait.:worthy: Should be fun.

If you remember the end of the game but we had what it seemed like the entire freshman team out there, Demiterius Byrd, Hawkins(CB), Tolliver, C. Jones.....They all made a play or two in those final minutes...I've also heard some good things about the kid from Alabama Phelon Jones, they say he's going to be a player, I think he'll be a corner...

Yeah TT looks like he will develop into a monster of a WR even better than Bowe or Clayton

Gosh, has it been that long? Where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday that I was watching those teams. :hihi:

LSU, IMHO, is overall the most talented team in the country right now. Some teams can certainly rival the Tigers, but overall in terms of speed, size, etc...they're tough to beat. The one thing that is certainly above everyone else is the front 7 of the defense. Some will be NFL superstars, some may not, but overall as a collegiate team they are hard to beat.

I said before last year started that LSU had at least 10 first round picks on the roster. People called me the biggest homer ever. Told me I was insane.
