I don't think we can move Ruiz to C (even though he's played there extensively). I'm convinced he's a huge part of Penning's success so far this season. The handoff, communication, combo blocks IMO won't work without Ruiz next to Penning. I'm hesitant to leave him out on an island.

McCoy going out early, and having two freaky athletic DTs to contend with was simply worst case scenario. He's been playing at an All-Pro level these first two games, and you could argue he's more important to the offense than anyone not named Alvin.

Hopefully the newly revamped OLine can get on the same page before traveling to Atlanta, so we can actually run the ball. However, it's still gonna be a long day. Atlanta is no slouch up the middle either. We really need McCoy back healthy, sooner rather than later.

Huge loss, but you can maybe mitigate it with game planning and prep for the new center.

Losing McCoy in-game was worse case. I have at least some trust the same coaches who had the OL playing so well when none of us thought it was possible can scheme some success.

We also won’t be facing the best DL in the league every week.

Unfortunately, that Eagles DL isn’t anywhere near the best in the league. It got bullied by both Green Bay and Atlanta.

And here’s my fear for this year come true. Our OL line depth is very thin, and reports are out that McCoy will be missing a few weeks. That drop off, not only ability, but calling protections is going to be a massive hole

This question is for those who were paying close attention to our o-line blocking and understand the dynamics of zone blocking o-lines. Does the center call the zone blocking assignments? If so, did the Saints have to simplify their blocking schemes with McCoy out? It seemed to me that our o-line blocking went to a man assignment blocking scheme after he left the field.

I don't think it was that complex.

JALEN CARTER is a MONSTER. Jalen Carter is a mountain of a man. McCoy is a MONSTER himself, and handled him until exactly the 2nd play, when he went out with the groin injury.

Putting in a scrub against Carter had no chance. Even with help. Even with scheme.

This is simply not true. Philly's DL is top tier easily. That alone doesn't mean a team will win, but it does matter.

You could see it in the same way you could see Harold Perkins coming off the field for LSU on Saturday. Both have turned out to be devastating for their teams. I suspect it will largely depend on his recovery speed and how the Saints season is going as to whether or not he comes back this year.
