McCoy leaves Eagles game with groin injury (5 Viewers)

Hergel needs to come up from the practice squad.

Udoh was terrible... Ruiz wasn't much better!

I have some hope that maybe Saldiveri can step up at LG. The plan was for him to be the starting LG this year but he got hurt in camp and there was never any competition with Patrick. If Saldiveri is ready maybe giving it a week will give Patrick time to get ready to play Center until McCoy comes back.

But, if Saldiveri isn't ready, I'd be in favor of giving Hergel a shot. Udoh looks terrible at LG. Based on preseason Udoh is a better Tackle than Guard. Or maybe Landon Young will be back and play LG.

Another option would be to put Ruiz at Center, Patrick at LG and someone else at RG, but I don't think Ruiz even took snaps at Center in camp.

I believe Hergel had some reps at C in preseason.
My thinking is Hergel at C & move Patrick back to G...

Huge loss, but you can maybe mitigate it with game planning and prep for the new center.

Losing McCoy in-game was worse case. I have at least some trust the same coaches who had the OL playing so well when none of us thought it was possible can scheme some success.

We also won’t be facing the best DL in the league every week.

Hopefully Saldiveri can step in and be a solutions at guard, being 6'4 300lbs helps bring size in the interior and can help keep the pass rush out of Carr's face.

When will we know the severity of the injury? This is the kind of injury that can nag and is easily reaggravated if not given time to heal.

I pulled my left groin playing intramural football in college and it was a month before I could use the clutch in my car. Sucked.

Ruiz was a center at Michigan. Remember that McCoy was a guard in college, but COVID messed up the apparent plan to move McCoy back to guard— plus, McCoy was doing so well at center that it seemed better to switch Ruiz to guard. And now, we have Fuaga switching to LT and Penning switching to RT.

Is it any wonder the OL is a mess? Not every o-lineman is a Kelemete.

I though he was injured during the week but heard his name in the game as the “TE” tackle
Correct, Young was dressed and played yesterday, he looked fine on the sideline and went in a couple times (we sit right behind our bench)

I never saw McCoy return to the sideline after he got hurt either

I think the decision to move Patrick to center on the fly was because Kubiak wanted to play Udoh due to his veteran presence and experience with the system.

I hope Kubiak trots out the best 5 lineman this week even if it means we have to start another inexperienced guy. Patrick needs to go back to LG and we need to make sure the guy they put at center can actually block at the center position.

This. They're going to have to get reps and plan with new C and shift in line, especially to get used to zone blocks and such. It's all about timing with blocks and who is going to block in tandem- which fell apart yesterday once McCoy went out. Running game definintely sputtered afterwards.
