Meanwhile Sean Payton is Sean Paytoning in Denver {Thread from September Bumped } (4 Viewers)

This, when the league shifted to more 2 high Safety to take away the deep ball he never adjusted.

We thought it was because Drew’s arm was weakening, and that played a part but it was the start of a league wide trend.

You have to be able to run vs light boxes and Payton refuses to call runs.

Just shotgun short passes and an occasional run
no no no... can't run, must Screen... every other play.

I bitched for years because of Payton's scheme was not complementing the defense. The defense would be on the field for 10 minutes and we scored in 3 plays so the defense had to go out for another 10 minutes, and we scored in 3 plays... until we got stopped and the defense was worn out the rest of the game.
That 8-9 minute drive in the 3rd was a thing of beauty….

Funny how when a coach or player leaves no what the terms of their departure all of the past achievements and all they have done for their franchise is just trashed for no good reason.

I did not remember seeing this type of opinion when we were winning he was a genius.
You can find me harping about it for years..... I'll remind you..

Kubiak system looks so much better….i really like our new offense better than Payton’s.
I don’t understand how Payton was able to adjust and do such solid work with Winston and even Teddy Bridgewater., but not really seem to learn much from that.

Balance is your friend.

He definitely isn't trash and he obviously played a huge role in our franchise's history.. I do think he's probable going to struggle to ever recapture the magic though without Brees.

I love me some Sean Payton, but his system has to have so many pieces that aren't easy to find to work.

Kubiak/Shanahan system takes whatever you have and makes them look ridiculously good.
Payton is the type of coach that will find people to fit his scheme and run it but he will run it regardless no matter who is there. Kubiack puts his players in positions that fit them and tailors that system to his players. Kubiack did it with the Niners. I don't know who is calling the plays in SF but they lost today don't know how that game went and it is early but Payton was always a bit stubborn.

Yeah Payton just hasn’t adjusted to these modern wrinkles. One knock on Payton was using short passes instead of relying on the traditional run game. That can be effective but being able to run over a team the way Kubiak’s system allows is so demoralizing on an opposing defense. You could see the Cowboys getting flustered and beaten down.

It took time for it to run its course. It used to be innovative, now it's outdated. It's okay to admit the truth. Payton no longer has it.

I mean we saw that happen today. Dallas' only touchdown came on a grossly whiffed tackle because TOP at that point was grossly out of balance due to how fast the Saints were scoring. Mathieu ended up having to go to the locker room to get an IV because of how out of gas he was.

What did Kubiak do? Slowed the game down, started having 5 yard run plays and longer drives. Defense was able to get their legs back. Dallas then scored just two field goals the rest of the game.

You nailed it Drew was his secret sauce so to say. That offense was Drew and Drew was just a extension of Payton on the field,Drew was amazing. Those two together were the perfect storm. I agree with you though it will be hard for Payton to recapture that magic.

Yeah and that may be the truth but it is in the way it is said. When you say it like that it is less disrespectful than the op did it. Just my opinion . Drew was a huge part of what went on in NO we all knew it. I think if he had another QB like a Burrow he could do it.
