Saints [Merged] Well this should get us all excited (2 Viewers)

Rodger Goodell is probably trying to figure out a way to ban him from playing. probably will make up some "Six Million Dollar Man" rule. it's an unfair advantage if a player has more than one surgically modified body part.. lol..

This team is not limited to how well Drew Brees plays, I get that he's the franchise all time player but this is a talented roster coached by a potential hall of fame coach....with or without Brees.

Super Bowl contender with him. Playoff contender without him.

You forgot the part about how this talented roster is even more talented when Drew is playing QB.

you're precious - you really are

i was merely relating what Nick Underhill said Drew's QB guru (Tom house) said when he interviewed him

if you feel like you have some insights about how Dr house is coaching Drew, i'm sure it would be appreciated
i'll provide the link

I do therapy for a living. The fact that he’s throwing a nerf or smaller ball might be planned. The weight of a regulation or bigger ball isn’t that big of a deal, in fact the weight shouldn’t be an issue at all. It’s the gripping he’s working on, so a smaller ball should be harder to grip and hold. So that might be part of his therapy. The fact he’s using a smaller ball shows his gripping is farther along then what it would be with a regulation ball.

I don't really understand this. If I hold my hand in a neutral (relaxed) position my thumb is relatively close to my other fingers and palm. The further I move my thumb away from my fingers and palm, the more flexing that's required. I don't think a smaller ball is harder to grip and hold -- it would be nice if that were the case, but that really doesn't make sense. Bigger balls are harder to hold. Anyone who's held balls knows this.

Drew’s issue with the thumb from the start was gripping so he needs the mobility and strength to bring the thumb toward the palm and fingers. After any surgery you tend to focus on mobility/range of motion and then strengthening. A smaller ball has a smaller circumference meaning it’ll require more mobility to grab onto. I’m sure strengthening is still an issue as it is after any surgery. I see being able to firmly hold a smaller ball as him having the mobility in the thumb already. What’s left is strengthening.

Also when you’re moving your thumb away from your fingers you’re extending not flexing your thumb. I know it’s nitpicking but there’s a muscle group that does flexion and one that does extension and in his case flexion will be more important for gripping the ball.

If you really want to get a feel of how his fingers are doing then him throwing isn't the best yard stick. I want to see if they hold up to him picking them. If they make it through that then they're ready.

Dr. Chao on Twitter thinks Drew is either still on target for 6 weeks, or maybe 1 week earlier.

I posted this on a different thread but I’ll say it again. Drew’s workouts are very impressive just as much as Kamara’s are. He is an elite athlete as we all know. I’ve had surgeries on both of my hands and carpal tunnel surgery on both hands as well. My surgeries were for a condition called trigger finger. The release procedure cuts the sheath that the tendon passes through. I know what my recovery time was and I didn’t have access to the staff Drew does. It wouldn’t surprise me if Drew was back next week.
