Minecraft (1 Viewer)

I am considering buying this game for my 8 year old son. I was wondering if there are any offline versions available and if so is it worth it playing offline? I only worry about him being so young and having to deal with others in the online world who can be complete DB's...(pervs and vulgar punks...etc) He wants to recreate an angry birds type sim in minecraft. The boy loves to create and I want to enhance that ability but I'm concerned about online behavior so my question is obviously two fold. Is there an offline? And if not how can assure that nothing goes wrong with him while he is online?

You can set up an online world where only people on his friends list can enter and, of course, you can control who is on his friends list. That way only his friends can get in. Live parties can be set up the same way. It would require some monitoring by you to make sure he doesn't take out those blocks, but I'm sure you plan on keeping an eye on him anyway, or you wouldn't be concerned in the first place.

people like widge and mongoose like Minecraft so you have to be aware....they are mostly harmless but can bore you to tears...mongeeses especially

great. now you have angered the old fuddy duddys.

I hit bed rock and then was promptly killed. I have two mines. One goes deep really quickly and is a maze of lava and dark spots. It's really not safe right now. The other is a bit farther from my home base. But I have set up a safe room with extra gear there. I take advantage of a very straight and easy, naturally occurring rift in the land. There isn't a lot of mining to do before getting into the depths. I found some red stone today in the old mine. But it came at a cost. I think I'll try out this new mine for some more gold and perhaps diamonds.

gold is useless for armor/weapons... It does have it uses however.

Save up, and keep collecting that red stone so you can make a powered rail way that drops down to bedrock from the surface, travels across the map including spur junctions, and then rises back up to the surface.

:9:

I made a gold pick ax. That was a mistake. It lasted like 30 seconds. I've found 13 or so diamonds and have obtained some obsidian. I'm brainstorming some ideas for an epic portal room now.

Finally got around to getting this for my kids; they LOVE it. I am now acclaimed Father of the Year.

Any recommendations for my wife to play so I can be Husband of the Year too? :hihi:

Introduce your kids to Stampylongnose on Youtube.

Then iBallisticSquid. Then Dan with TheDiamondMinecart.

But be prepared for them to go into a rabbit hole of Minecraft for a few years.
