Mock Draft [Simulators] Compilation Thread - 2024 NFL Draft (3 Viewers)

You won’t find a better mock than this.

Self explanatory.

Bowers fell so we had to take him.

Needed line help after that.

Get a fast RB also.

Okay I guess I explained it lol

No trades.
Assumptions:
1. New staff/new scheme - Shanahan Offense
2. Penning develops into the player we drafted, we still revamp the O-line and assume Ram is done or near done.
3. 2 TE sets
4. Use of physical blocking WRs.
5. Continue the revamp of the D-line.

Bowers fell and there was a run on OTs in the 1st so Latham was the only one left. Using the assumption that Penning will develop and how important TEs are in today's game especially in the offense we are switching to it made sense to grab Bowers and address the O-line later. Legette can replace MT at X and be that physical presence at WR this could push ATP to the Z or WR3/4 and free up Shaheed be a matchup/playmaker. Coleman looks like just the kind of IOL we need in this new system and he's a Feldman Freak, he should lock down LG. Christian Jones should fit this system perfect and can lock down whichever tackle position Penning doesn't brining a physical and nasty demeanor, it's time to bully teams. Jalen Wright has size and homerun level speed, he'll be a great addition to a backfield with AK and KM and if we use AK more in the passing game to take advantage of his skillset/strenths to extend his career, then KM and Jalen Wright would be a nice 1-2 punch. The last 4 picks bring size to the D-line, a playmaker to S that DA likes and a LB who looks like he can do it all, this is key as we get towards the end of DD's career.

I’m beginning to think WR is one of our top needs now. With the offense we are going to implement, we need a bigger guy who can block like you said. Bowden is a good blocker, but not dangerous enough as a receiving threat.

Agreed. I think Miami is the only team that runs a version of that offense without physical WRs who can block and they got bullied late in the year and in the playoffs. I've mentioned it on here and I know someone else has a well, if we want to protect Olave and Shaheed, we will have to bring in a couple physical receivers. One of those could be a TE like Bowers and then an X like Legette. ATP is big, but I still see a finesse WR in him right now, maybe a Big Z and not necessarily a X. That's perfectly fine if we address the X with someone like Legette or another physical X from the draft. 2 TE sets with Bowers and JJ would be difficult to deal with with AK in the backfield and Legette/Olave, Legette/Shaheed or Legette/ATP at WR. Hell, that would be 4 receiving threats 6'4" or bigger if it was Bowers, JJ, Legette and ATP.

Someone to watch in FA as an old school X WR is Donovan Peoples Jones.

How awesome would it be to be able to give Shaheed or Olave 5 or 6 plays off and then bring them back in with fresh legs to run something vertical? There were times last season i thought Olave was struggling because he got winded.

This mock is in reference to a post in the "We need a NT" thread about landing Verse and Murphy. Murphy didn't fall to pick 45, but I kept the same strategy and revamped the D-line. I didn't draft a WR as the players weren't available when I was OTC. I used PFF to research the lineman to see if they were zone/gap guys as well as the RB who has over a 90 grade in both a zone and gap scheme. There were a couple late WR options, but I figured due to our history with UDFAs and a scheme change, we can probably get a few to sign since there might be opportunities. Overall, this draft beefs up the trenches.

1. New staff/scheme
Assumptions:

2. 2 TE sets
3. Sign Jauan Jennings or convert Juwan Johnson back to WR and let him play the X/Jauan Jennings role.
4. Continue the revamp of the D-line and every level of the defense.

Alt fell and white the rest of the lineman, WRs, Bowers and Verse were all gone so I grabbed Alt at 14. I moved back from 45 to 46 and picked up a 3rd and 4th for doing so. I didn't like the WRs available as they must have all went higher than usual so I decided to focus on defense and then add 2 physical playmaker TEs with the assumption that maybe we sign Jennings or convert Juwan back to WR to play the X. Overall, the draft addresses quite a few needs with 2 positions getting the top ranked player in their respective positions, Alt and Cooper.

Another mid round Tennessee RB, not a bad idea.

I absolutely love the name Malik Mustapha and hope we draft the guy just for that reason.

TRADE DOWN SPECIAL
This would NEVER happen, BUT with this draft you have the ability next year to do some serious restocking of talent or if THAT player was there you could make an offer no one could refuse. A mixture of both is also possible…the options next year would be endless!
P.S. I never offered a trade, I took the trades (with some counter offers) I was offered.

Getting winded is a conditioning issue that Olave needs to personally address this offseason.

Some assumptions from my previous mocks above are now known with the hires this week. Bowers is consistently falling to be available at 14 while there looks to be a run on OTs and other positions causing this. In this mock I address all levels on both sides of the ball with a few intriguing players on defense. Jalyx Hunt is someone who should be position versatile, but he might find a home as a sideline to sideline LB with size and length to be disruptive in all aspects. He played Safety at Cornell and then LB/DE/EDGE at Houston Baptist. Christian Jones grades out over 80 per PFF in both Zone and Gap schemes so he's perfect for the new scheme. Legette is a true physical X WR. Wright is perfect for the scheme and his a power/speed homerun threat. With Miller and Wright as the main RBs, it would allow AK to be the do everything guy. Good RB depth is key and fresh legs with speed equals homeruns in the 4th quarter. Jefferson might be able to slide in next to Bresee, Ford is a bigger LB who could also be a sideline to sideline guy, Oladapo is a bigger safety and McGregor looks like one of the perfect archetype 4-3 DEs who's a hustle guy. Overall with no trades, I kinda like how this mock fell into place.
